Many people obviously get a lot out of talk therapy and depending on their situation, they really need it. My 2 cents is that I really didn't benefit from it. I grew up in a dysfunctional family with many different forms of abuse. I consequently developed some interesting coping mechanisms and health issues...CPTSD and DID, gut issues, insomnia etc. I have received quite well meaning mental therapies over the years, but they really never helped me and cost a lot of money. As a middle aged person who is also "functional", I had already rationally and logically came to the same conclusions they did. No talky and EMDR intervention helped. Talk therapy became a burden. What helped me was to take full responsibility for my own health and happiness (frightening but liberating). Getting out into nature, exercising, playing a musical instrument, realising I am more than my body, but my body is so important. The rest fell out of that really.

Somatic movement therapy is so much more useful for dissociation and people with adhd- and autism to increase awareness of the relation with their own body and mind.

I believe in good therapy first and foremost before any kind of transition.

The 1st gentleman spoke of lobotomies, I'd really like to know the results of Electroconvulsive therapy which still aren't settled. My brother had 3 sessions & is completely different. It kills the apatite hormone ghrelin, yet so much more is even effected within the mind.

I quit sugar and carbs and now I no longer need anti-depressants. Talk therapy did nothing for me. You sound like a bunch of quacks when you ignore the effects of the junk people eat.

When someone is making no progress, they simply try something different. An oldy and a goody. Psychology has zero ability to admit it is standing in the wrong place and insists on looking in the wrong directions. Step one: get rid of all the books you've read or own on psychookery. How many million times is it going to take - IT'S WRONG.

Many people have (NOT MIRACLE) spontaneous remission, as in cured. This can happen over a few days or a few weeks. But the weird bit is, the psycho babblers refuse to investigate. One of the problems for the west / western life style is many people believe that Christianity brings miracles, you just have to believe. So, when none Christians have a miracle healing, no one wants to know or ask what changed. Dogma principal 1.01 Do not listen to anything that is not already in the/a book.
