Only if you’re not drinking. The only time you can use your sidearm when you’re intoxicated like I am 3 out of 7 days is if you’re in your home “castle” then the law doesn’t matter. But, you definitely can’t goto a bar and get drunk and have a gun on you. That’s manslaughter! Or even worse

100% correct. Even the prestigious attorney cannot correctly cite TN gun laws. When I got my permit, 21 years ago, you could carry concealed, in a place that served alcohol, permitted that you consume no alcohol, and that the establishment earned 51%, or more, of their income from food and non-alcohol sales. That was, basically, the distinction made in the law that determined whether you were carrying a gun illegally at a “bar” (at that time), or were legally carrying in a “restaurant.”

If they have a no firearms sign, you can carry concealed. Worst case you'll be asked to leave if somehow someone sees it. But regardless, you shouldn't be bringing guns to a bar, that's begging for trouble.

@@bashkillszombies false. it is against the law in the state of Tennessee to carry concealed or open into a business or private property that has proper signage barring the carry of firearms on the premises. and i would say if youre not drinking it would be perfectly fine to carry in a bar, in fact i would call it prudent. anywhere you wouldnt go armed you definitely shouldnt go unarmed for your protection.

They keep showing longarms but you CANNOT carry a longarm in TN. Which is shocking IMHO. Most places will allow open carriage of a longarm with no permit LONG before handguns. So you have to get a "pistol conversion" for your longarm if you want to carry it loaded, so a shorter barrel and a pistol brace instead of a buttstock. Which is absolutely daft. Their rules on open carrying a LONGARM are absolutely unconstitutional.

Still need to repeal the federal gun free school zone law or at least add an addendum that allows you to traverse the area by car or on foot while open or concealed carrying. As if stands you still need a permit to be within 1,000 feet of a school and it's a felony if you get caught which is just dumb if you're just driving through.

Thank you!! I haven’t been convicted of anything and I carry a gun everyday. Thankfully my great state of Tennessee has finally caught up. And again if someone pulls a gun on me…. That’s go time! As a different situation keep alcohol and guns away from each other unless you’re at home.

I have no problem wiyh constitutional carry, I have a problem that far to many folks don't get to training to carry, or use safely. A gun is not a threat, I've carried for years doing my job, and have never used my gun as a threat, my voice is the first line of defense, the gun final line of defense If it clears the holster, somebodies getting shot

That was the WORST explanation of the "intent to go armed" law I could imagine. Could someone perhaps more coherent please explain? If you can't carry a firearm "with intent to go armed" what is the point? You are lawfully going armed so you can defend yourself or others from unjustified dangerous attacks against innocence. That is part of the intent behind the 2nd amendment and clearly stated in the text of said amendment.

Bruen begs to differ. DUIs =/= loss of RKBA. Drinking in taverns while intoxicated or not was common behavior among our Founders during their deliberations. There exist zero valid analogues (text, history, and tradition [1791]) supporting this modern restriction. These “laws” need to be challenged by FPC and other groups posthaste.
