Hi Doctor, my 2 years old kid suddenly started limping from right leg ... he had a cold for a week and since then he has started limping and no complains of pain

This sounds like Transient synovitis of the hip joint also known as irritable hip. Its a temporary condition which resolves in a few days with rest and ibuprofen. However as a safety netting measure, make sure that your child hasn’t got fever or in case the conditions worsens then immediately see your doctor to rule out septic arthritis

Thank you.. I have a question. What is the value of an ultrasound in a limping child
@nrkazmi Жыл бұрын
Ultrasound has traditionally been used for DDH diagnosis in children less than 6 months of age, but it can be utilised to detect hip joint effusions in hands of a proper MSK ultrasound operator, but traditionally xrays, CT and MRI are used more in evaluation of a limp

Sir, my 5.9 years old daughter , one day continuously complained sprain in right side groin area. On the second day her sprain was little better but she started limping. On the 3rd day her sprain completely gone but limping remains. We took her to the doctor and after x ray doctor said she has injury in hip ball and there is a chance of AVN. he had given medicine calcium carbonate+vitamin d3 , and paracetamol and ibuprofen syrup. This is the 4th day of taking medicine . Her limping is not cured. Please help.

From the history and her age there is a very high chance of Avascular Necrosis of Hip Joint. Please keep it in mind that it is not cured or treated with calcium and vitamin supplements. It is a surgical condition and definitely requires consultation with a Paediatric Orthopod Specialist as it might require surgical fixation. Please see a proper qualified Orthopedic specialist as soon as possible
