Yes, it is an "Unreasonable Position" to have, because like it or not (and I don't like the fact you are but I accept it) you are in leadership to this generation of young American Christians and they look to you for guidance in this rapidly declining world of ours. So you have to be a Standard Bearer in all things small and things great. And as leaders, we must decline to reflect any "Shades of Gray" and only reflect "Shades of Christ" James 1:17......the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like Shifting Shadows... Time to Ware the Mantle.

Key lesson for me from this conversation is 'we need the Holy Spirit more than anything'. What Pastor Mike said is spot on! That is what I received when praying about it. That the times have changed and what we once were able to casually play with is no longer. The intensity of the warfare has increased. We disciples have to be able to discern the times and the seasons. We won’t be able to cast out the demons that we entertain. Additionally, we can’t say that what another person is doing over there is worse than what I have going on over here. There are no degrees of sin. Sin is sin is sin. If it misses God’s mark, it’s a wrap.

if you look for God you'll find him and if you look for the devil you'll find him. where you put your focus becomes part of your world view. I was in a "ministry" that pushed Mike's viewpoint (they are associates) hard and everything was a demon or a door for one. Since God pulled my husband and I out of there I see we need to choose to put the focus on Jesus. There is a pharisee mindset of works being pushed and giving the enemy power back where it has already been taken away. I'm redeemed and I'll redeem every day in the name of Jesus. God has done a complete 180 on my stance on this from last year. I was living in fear and bondage and now I can remain free! The son's blood has me covered.

Good conversation. I went from REJECT, to REDEEM, back to REJECT. I like what Mike said about using Wisdom. When you look at 1 Corinthians about the foods offered to idols Paul says along the lines of if eating meat causes his brothers to sin, then he will never eat meat again. Paul was giving wisdom because the city of Corinth was like a modern day Vegas. They were coming out of a lot of pagan worship Paul understood that the mindset and soul of those around him were more important than his liberties which is why he spoke to the Corinth church in their questions about it. Today there is so much compromise in the church and we post on social media about everything in our lives. Believe it or not although our motives and intentions may be right, our decisions influence those around us more than we realize. We are in the last days and our world needs Jesus now more than ever. We must get serious about those around us and glorifying God in all we do. Also glad Ruslan mentioned about the consistency of seeing all of the new age stuff because it is everywhere and even in the church. 👍🏽

I am in complete agreement with Pastor Mike. What part of this dark, deceitful holiday, that the world loves, glorifies the God who brought us out of darkness? We must seek God’s will and wisdom, in everything we do, so as not to cause others to stumble. I think that we don’t have the authority to “redeem” what is evil to something “okay”. We don’t get to do that, I believe that we let God redeem what He wants and allow him to expose evil as scripture says. If everything was “redeemed” then we wouldn’t have no place to expose nothing because we just made it all “good” or “okay” to do. I lean towards the "reject" train because I believe there are 364-5 other days in the year we could choose to dress up (in cosplay, if you will). I always thought it strange that people in the church, particularly when redefining or relabeling the day, still would dress up for that particular day yearly (even from an economic standpoint). I do not think it is a salvation issue but a wisdom and temptation issue. That said, it took me a while to come to terms with this, and even still, I fall short in other areas despite leaning towards the reject pov. It was a good conversation.

Personally, I am with Pastor Mike on this. While the Romans conquered the Celts in order for them to convert to Catholicism they agreed to let them keep this holiday, they just changed it a little. Instead of praying to pagan gods they would now pray to saints. Souling (practice of typically poor children going door to door asking for food in exchange for prayers) was also practiced thinking that you could speed up people’s time in purgatory and getting them into Heaven quicker if the community prayed collectively. “Take heed to thyself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither you goest, lest it be a snare in the midst of thee. But ye shall destroy their alters, break down their images, and destroy their groves. For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” (Exodus 34:12-14) When the Romans tried to convert the Celts converting their holiday into All Saint’s day also felt like a compromise in which some of the practices are (for lack of a better word) wrong because they kept some of the original holiday still in the practice. The Bible also says that we are not to pray to Saints nor can we get to Heaven through our own efforts, so even the Christian holiday has issues. So for me personally I think it’s just better to reject it.

My church is having a Fall Festival, we are doing Trunk or Treat, I am playing music and designing stage lighting, we will be sharing The Gospel, playing live worship music, have fun activities for the kids...and we'll be using three fog machines! (LOL)

Thank you pastor Mike!! I’m like you as a parent I used to dress my twins up and go to harvest and now I don’t ❤ it’s just my point of view and I agree with you 100%

Deuteronomy 18:9-14, Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.1 Corinthians 10:23, All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.

The truth is, every day is a pagan day if you don’t honor God. Just look at what our days are named after.

We are not to partake period...Just like Jesus said when doing communion, to do that in remembrance of Him, of what He did for us, which has power and is timeless...That is the same thing when partaking in pegan holidays, it's about the origin of things, because the same spirits are behind these holidays/celebrations..and in the end, it's all about disobedience about partaking in these celebrations, which we're not suppose to be doing..

@@RuslanKD you can't just suck the fun out of your children's lives like a fun sucking vampire. They are children who naturally love to have fun you take away their fun to much and you break their spirit.

@@nicolenewsome4863 Using your absurd attempt at a counterargument, i guess Christ's words hold no weight because He didn't have children? What does it matter if someone has children or not? Having children doesn't automatically make the parent's word more authoritative than God. What kind of nonsense is this?

Thank you for the discussion of several viewpoints. The thing is it used to seem more innocent in years back but now it is a slippery slope and may be more slippery for some than others especially these days..

I think personally if a kid dresses up as a astronaut or cowboy or a basketball player or things that are not over the top or blatantly sinful where is the harm in it. Also harvest festivals at church or a trunk or treat how is it wrong. Can you not see that the church is offering an alternative too what the world has. If we were about saving the lost and genuinely caring for others why would we not try and create a safe place for individuals during a dark holiday?

The problem with @Ruslan KD’s view is that you absolutely can NOT separate costumes and candy from its ritualistic root done specifically on this day, I mean you can do it but the spiritual realm doesn’t respect that you have 💯% opened a door into the dark world.

Since the video played mentioned 1Cor8 this is the verses to consider. 1Cor 8:13 is probably the best approach to it and the approach it seems Mike is taking on it. 1Co 8:7 Howbeit there is not in all men that knowledge: but some, being used until now to the idol, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. 1Co 8:8 But food will not commend us to God: neither, if we eat not, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better. 1Co 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to the weak. 1Co 8:10 For if a man see thee who hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols? 1Co 8:11 For through thy knowledge he that is weak perisheth, the brother for whose sake Christ died. 1Co 8:12 And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ. 1Co 8:13 Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble.

Appreciate this conversation and perspectives. I agree with Pastor it’s hard to even see the innocence these days with so much of a norm in new age and evil. Wisdom
