I played golf at Wake Forest from 1980 to 85 and then moved to Orlando , Florida to play J. C. Goosie's minitour in hopes of making the PGA Tour one day . I got a part time job at Grand Cypress Resort in order to have a good place to play and practice . Bill Murray attended the Golf Academy one winter and will never forget this man and his non standard golf outfits . He was late every morning and would have a checkered button down shirt with striped bermuda shorts and socks with pictures on them . He was truly one of a kind and treated everyone great . lol

Cruit Island!! Truly on the edge of Ireland. Even the locals haven't heard of it. When I played there the bartender pouring Guinness was also the golf pro. #6, my favorite par 3 in the world. Try and time your tee shot when the whale hole sprays water while your ball is still in air.

Great video, Tom! I've had the pleasure of going back to Belmullet since I was three years old and playing Carne since I learned how to golf. Get back there every year now and it can't be overstated how amazing that course and the people there are. Looking forward to being back again in 2023 and seeing Gerry and Fiona!

Having had the great fortune of traveling to Scotland and Ireland with Tom Coyne, I can say without reservation that he's the best golf host around. Add in his outstanding writing and interviewing skills, and Tom represents a one-stop total golf enjoyment package! (Next wish; Tom, please find a way to partner with the amazing Iona Stephen for a podcast and a video or ten!)

Ahhh…Enniscrone! I played it before it was discovered (1997) and paid the approximate equivalent of $40! It’s a gem, for sure! The Head Professional at the time was Charlie McGoldrick (rest in peace), who joined me. What a wonderful host and great guy!

Tom you are Carnes greatest ambassador & I know Gerry & Fiona absolutely adore you. It’s quite simply the best golf course on the planet bar none. Played St Patrick’s when it was 2 weeks old & shot 2 over par it was brilliant. When we came in they said well lads what do you think & I said great track but no where near Carne, well ya should of seen there faces 🤣🤣 Keep her lit Tom 💚🏌🏿♂️

Wrote the above while watching the opening on Carne. I’ve had the pleasure of playing every course you did, including Druids Glen & The Omer’s @ Carton ( I live 10 min away ) Oh & Tom totally agree that Cruit is the best 9 on earth I’m off to play it the day before Paddy’s next week. I feel blessed to live on the island of Ireland. 💚🏌🏿♂️💚

My buddies and I were on a similar trip a few weeks after your trip. In fact we kept hearing that Bill Murray had just been there. Can't say enough good things about the courses the people the craic and the whole experience. Special mention to Gerry McGuire at Carne Guy named Tom in the pro shop at Marvagh and I think we agreed that our favorite course was Enniscrone. But all 9 we played dis not disappoint. Can't wait to go back.
