mpv is a great application, chef's kiss rightly deserved! Celebration incoming, almost to a grand subs! Congratulations Sir :D

Thanks shawn! I didn't expect to have 1k subs after about 2 months. :)

Nice... good to know the media players can do still images too.

I will cover some image only dedicated software that runs in the framebuffer in the future too.

I totally forgot about mpv

Thank you very much James; it works perfectly. I tested it with images and .mp4 videos and everything with excellent results. I have a project underway with a laptop (64 bits) with 4 Gb of Ram, a 250 Gb solid disk and Arch installed and working, where I am currently doing tests. In the next few days I want to do a new installation and continue, as far as I can, the line that you have been drawing. On this computer I am going to work with a database, therefore the main tools will be: MariaDB, editors such as; ed, ex, nano; screen (I used it for many years and then changed it for tmux, now I have started using it again), awk, grep (or rg which is more efficient), column, etc. The main idea is the terminal (currently I use it at approximately 80%), therefore I will see how to implement that, more than anything in the choice of the desktop system and the whole graphical theme. Greetings.

@jorgel.2222 You're welcome. My main system is also similar to yours. Although I don't recommend running this on your system, check out my TTYSH main script if you want some more ideas that might help your new setup. I've put the link below. Good luck! github.com/JamesChampionGitHub/TTYSH/blob/main/ttysh.sh

@@JamesChampionLinux I've been looking at your code and I think I'll copy something that will be useful to me. I'll mention you in the credits..!! Thank you very much.

Nice video, what thinkpad is it that you are using? Looks like my good old x201
@JamesChampionLinux24 күн бұрын
You're spot on! The X201 I use in my videos is my testing laptop which has 8GB of RAM and a trackpad, and my my main laptop is also an X201 with 4GB of RAM without the trackpad and only a trackpoint. What's your current setup?
@thearchitect975724 күн бұрын
@@JamesChampionLinux Ah, i still got my x201 running with its amazing keyboard. Though, most of the time using my e14 purely for the better CPU and more memory. Lot of sacrifices these newer ones have, at least they didn't get rid of the trackpoint (yet).
@JamesChampionLinux24 күн бұрын
The e14 is a nice looking ThinkPad, and it's great to hear that they kept the TrackPoint.

Thanks for the video! Two questions, please: does 'magick display someimage' works in Linux tty framebuffer, and is it there support for Sixel graphics in it? There was a lot work done on Sixel in DE world in recent years - even KDE konsole supports Sixel for a while now.
@JamesChampionLinux20 күн бұрын
ImageMagick uses the X server to display images with the magick display command, but funnily enough, I use ImageMagick to make my thumbnails in the TTY. :) KMSCON is a terminal replacement for the TTY, but I'm not sure if it supports Sixel. There is also yaft which has experimental sixel support. I haven't tried either of these yet and I don't think yaft is still being developed. Check out the links for these below: wiki.archlinux.org/title/KMSCON github.com/uobikiemukot/yaft
