Rahul Dravid and VVS are far better than Tendulkar in tests.they made more runs when the team needed .see the stats then you will know the facts

The following lines are taken from an article by Amrit Mathur who is a former manager of the Indian cricket team. That Sachin is fanatically meticulous about his preparation became evident after a training session in South Africa ahead of the crucial World Cup game against Pakistan in 2003. The team had just finished practice at Centurion. We were walking up the 80-odd steps from the ground leading up to the dressing room. Standard conversation on such occasions is about the match and the ground, and there is the usual speculation about the surface. Sachin noted the track looked good - the pitch hard, true, batsman friendly . But what caught my attention was what he said a little after... not about the pitch but the outfield. Apparently he had walked round the ground and noticed that the outfield had a thick grass cover, and here is the interesting bit - the blades of grass around third man, he noticed, pointed away from the boundary, which meant they would slow the ball down. If the ball is played there, he said, there is a chance of an extra run because the ball will reach the fielder slowly. I thought batting was about sorting out the bowler , the ball and the pitch. But the direction of blades of grass in the outfield! Phew. Sherlock of cricket

For most of his career, except the last couple of seasons, Tendulkar averaged close to 60 at a strike rate close to 60 as well in an era dominated by the greatest bowlers to ever play the game when not too many batsmen averaged more than 40. The likes of Kohli, Smith and Root may be the best of their time but they'll never get to the level of Tendulkar and Lara by smacking around hapless village green bowlers of today.
@FaisalKhan-hf4sf6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, and one thing u must have noticed that he completed his 30th ton in just 99th match and that too in that era of great bowlers, and I also remember that he reached his 50th ton in his 175th Match, that means he managed to hit only single century after that and ends with 51 centuries. He kinda slowed down after 100 test matches maybe bcoz of his growing age but if he would have quit the game after 50th ton than that would have been great.

For the first 7 minutes I found myself wondering whether such a good test batsman would have been able to adapt for the T20 game but then right on cue, he starts showcasing his more aggressive shots. The bowler can't claim victory in his dismissal, the low bounce of the pitch did all the work. Flawless batting indeed.
@anindyamitra22695 жыл бұрын
For those of us who closely followed him, it's safe to say he used to play more cautiously in Tests simply because of the importance of his wicket. If you really want to get a better idea of his attacking range, you should watch some of his ODI innings.

Look at that average : 57.05 , his average would be 58.39 after this innings, plus 30 hundreds and 8351 runs to go with it. All Richards, Sobers, Hammond, Hutton etc follow the Little man from India.The Don is the only one to compete with the Little man.
@lonestar67095 жыл бұрын
Herbert Sutcliffe, George Headley and Graeme Pollock all averaged 60. There's a few besides Bradman mate. Tendulkar finished with 53 average. Not the greatest average quite frankly. But it was his longevity that was awesome. I commend what he did for Indian Cricket, but he could have his poor streaks as everyone knew. So to say Sobers and Hammond 'follow' Tendulkar is simply not true.
@DC-zi6se5 жыл бұрын
@@lonestar6709 "To say Sobers and Hammond 'follow' Tendulkar is simply not true" is simply your opinion. Sutcliffe, Headley and Pollock as you wrote, played 54, 22 and 23 matches and then, averaged 60. Tendulkar after 100 tests averaged 59, that's the double of Sutcliffe and more than 4 times that of Headley and Pollock and still managed to average the same. Let alone the oppositions' quality and overall awareness in cricket. It's not the average that matters, it's the maintenance of the average over a long span that truly counts. Having a career ending average of 53 is not the greatest, but that isn't a revelation either. I am no Sachin Tendulkar fanboy and I dislike biased fanboys. There are things that I don't like about Tendulkar and express it openly. But, I can understand why Tendulkar as a batsman leaves everyone except the Don behind him. However, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion.

@Music Is Everything my friend, I don't think we should go to the level of comparing.... Every era has given us a set of players who took cricket to another level ,if we talk about our country, Sachin ,Sourav ,Dravid specially and others also too in that era gave that boost to cricket that it needed, and a child prodigy like Sachin Tendulkar will always be like a knight in shining armour ....we kids of 90s n 2000s grew up watching them..full respect 💯 Then we had Sehwag ,Yuvraj ,Gautam,Zaheer 🔥 Talking of Virat, n other boys ,its good that Indian cricket is at the hands of someone who knows when to shift gear n turn the game along ..the likes of Virat ,Rohit ..r the ones we need now... Again we saw great captains like Sourav Ganguly ,then MS Dhoni... This will always keep evolving.. As long as BCCI continues to recognize talents n not politics.. Our Indian cricket will always shine Respect to all 💯..
