I love how the people that react to the trailer that are fans of the original movie when ariel comes on, they're talking about her voice. That's the main reason why she was chosen so I'm glad that's the thing that caught your eye first!

I understand what you are saying without saying it here. To be honest, both sides of that issue need to take a breather. One side is too busy fighting against it and the other is too busy looking to fight those on that side. We are are about letting the movie speak for itself. Her voice fits this so well, which is crucial to this role. Very pleased with that so far!

Also they changed Scuttle into a gannet instead of a seagull so that she could appear in some of the underwater scenes!

It was probably in general but I agree. Can't please everyone man, but watching the movie in it's entirety will tell all. I still ain't impressed by Chris Pratt as Mario in the Super Mario movie, but I'll see it in theaters, which may change my mind. Also seagulls are jerks

Early test screenings were positive for the movie. Safe to assume our animal characters can actually emote since I’m sure Disney took note of the criticism with the Lion King remake. Someone did say at the test screening that the emoting was similar to the style of the talking objects in the live-action Beauty & the Beast (which is good!)

Both Scuttle and Sebastian have their original designs from the cartoon, which were based in realism before going more animated and expressive. Scuttle has been changed from a Seagull into a diving bird so she can be featured in more underwater scenes and it make sense.

To clarify a couple of common talking points: -Scuttle is a diving bird in the film. I'm assuming that would give the character a reason to occasionally appear underwater. With Awkwafina's voice, Scuttle was going to be pretty thoroughly reinvented anyway. -Regarding Ursula, some are questioning how she's being portrayed based on this. From what I've heard, Melissa McCarthy's spin on her is going to have a wider range than simply being an obvious villain from the start. The new film will be using a plot point originally considered for the original 1989 film: Ursula and Triton are siblings. There is, in fact, a remnant of this storyline in the animated classic when Ursula says "In _my_ day, we had fantastical feasts when I lived in the palace." It seems that she might exploit Ariel's lack of a mother and use that to be more manipulative emotionally; her line delivery in this trailer seems quite maternal. It could be interesting to see the role a bit underplayed for some of the film rather than having her recreate Pat Carroll's performance and chew the scenery in every shot. It would make her all the more cruel in the end. Following the trailer premiere at the Oscars, Disney also released a new poster image that gives us our best look yet at both Ursula and Triton. If you haven't seen it yet, seek it out. It shouldn't be difficult to find.

They change scuttle into gannet which is fascinating Bec scuttle always get scrap from the ocean which seagull cound not do diving into deep water so yeah big thumbs up for the changes!

Sebastian is based off a ghost crab and skuttle is a Gannets because they are “diving bird”. I think the adaptation is so funny lol

I didn’t hear them hardly say anything about Halle Bailey. She is the star of this movie. Not all those other characters. She not only beautiful but her voice is stunning. Give her more credit!

Not sure if you are new the channel. If you are, we have addressed Halle in every trailer reaction we have done for this movie, especially since the teaser was only about her. Subsequent trailers are about what is new that we are seeing. I get the feeling you are just looking for something to be mad about. There are two opposite camps of this movie that won’t just let people enjoy it for what it is. My encouragement is for you to do the same and not put so much emphasis on particular things. Let people latch on to it in anyway they can, and chances are, what you want people to value the most will win out as well. Regardless, we are excited for all involved in this movie because it looks great so far.
