This is how shit Liverpool fans are. He was always coming back to form. He had a bad injury and in his “return” games he was rusty. That doesn’t mean he became a bad player - he was recovering. Now he’s fit and playing many games you see the quality that was always there.

Agreed mate, he was just falling behind Matip and Konate as the 1st RCB over the last few years. This season he's been looking incredibly sharp, and that's even in a team of old-meeting-new world class talent. What a shift he's put in, he's at least in the conversation for a 1st pick in multiple positions imo.

He's had a run of games in the team helping him to become match fit, by which I mean not just fitness levels but awareness and touch and the positioning of teammates relative to himself in order to make a pass. He has shown a lot of ability recently and is a critical player for LFC. YNWA

What was interesting is seeing how he played against Southampton and the final with Chelsea. Against Chelsea, Gomez on for Gravenberch, Gomez went to RB, Elliott dropped to midfield and Bradley became an inside forward or 9 at times. I think we assumed looking at the Southampton lineup, that this would be the same again. But against Southampton, Bradley was more or a traditional RB, Gomez sat in the DM role with Endo now out too. Really solid performance considering he hadn't been deployed as a DM before but after watching this video it makes sense

Joe Gomez in 2018-19 before he got injured he was on his way to be the best cb in the league . After the injury he couldn’t find his consistency. I must admit I almost gave up on him then suddenly he found his mojo back. What a comeback

When both Robbo and Tsimikas were out injured, I was not at all worried. I knew that Gomez could defend as well as either of them, and his recovery pace is much better. (Heck, he coughed up the ball to The only real downside with Gomez at LB is his one-footedness slowed down our attack down the left side. But this season Klopp is playing more possession football, so quickly bombing down the wings is less important. Furthermore when Trent shifts into the midfield playmaker position Joe's one-footedness rarely matters.

I think people forget how good he was before injury for Brendan Rogers. He played right, centre and left defense. His problem was during the injury and recovery time we got Trent, Robinson and VVD. He is now back to his best.

I have to admit to not being a Gomez fan, but after filling in at LB, he seemed to mentally click. Previously, when as RB or CB on the right side, he was very vulnerable to any LW attacking him from an inverted dribbling pattern as he would always anticipate the dribble down the line. Playing LB allowed him to defend both ways, and that has translated into the rest of his play. Even surprising as a #6 to backup Endo in FA Cup. Kudos to his improved play!!!!

Always loved Gomez I'm happy with the fact that he so overlooked outside of LFC, he almost never gets the credit he deserves and he still has a long career of him imo, I honestly never want to see him in the England squad, not because he not good enough he most certainly is but to keep him away from overhype. I can't agree with everything said in this video. Firstly if you look over the years some of Liverpool heaviest defeat when he did play centre back was a catalog of errors made by Gomez. His biggest weakness is once a mistake is made he should put it to the back of his mind and move forward but he ends up making a lot more mistakes. Your stat of playing ball playing centre back isn't correct because how many games has Gomez started at CB? What Gomez has done exceptionally well is provided amazing cover this season. He has the attribute to be a strong CB but needs to work on mentality. VVD has the toughest mentality in the squad that's why he is the skipper and mister consistent. VVD encountered a horrific injury at the hands of Pickford but is stronger than ever. We as humans are susceptible to errors but once the error is made we need to learn and move forward ASAP. The games thay stick out the most is Napoli and Brighton. As a supporter I think, it's important to be objective and remove feelings towards your team to ensure you always look at the bigger picture and not feed into biases. To sum up Joe Gomez, this season has been immense, there is always room for improvement. Once again this is down the the gaff. Klopp is the top Kop. YNWA.

There's some things you could list that made you respect Gomez but the one thing that I'm really impressed by is the fact that he's been here for so long while usually being seen as a backup and not a first choice pick if everyone is available and not once did he complain about it in interviews or social media, which if he did, would of course been frowned upon but still understood by us Liverpool fans. Instead, he quietly did what was required of him, even when he was having bad form, and that alone was enough to make Klopp, the club and the fans love him. I won't speak for all Liverpool fans but I'm pretty sure we'd prefer a player with heart, determination and listens to the coaches but doesn't have the talent over a talented player who regularly bags 50+ goals a season but does as he pleases and throws a bitch fit if he isn't part of the starting 11 in non-cup matches
