A three piece band with no backing track (I don't think they even had backing tracks back then), full sound and tight like a nun's proverbial. Awesome, pure skills.

The Perth BDO in '03 was my first festival, I'd turned 13 less than a month prior and as it was the day before the school year started so I missed my 1st day of highschool as a result. I went every year for 10 years and at the time it was all normal, I didn't realise how special shows like this were and how much of a unique moment in musical history it was. It was before every 2nd person was a mobile phone filmographer, when people didn't get offended at every little thing and there was that special balance both in the music and culture where classic and modern seemed to compliment each other so well. I didn't think for a second I'd be looking back at some of the shows 20 years later like this. So many incredible bands landed in and came about as a result of these times and for some reason they unfortunately seemed to get obscured by what came before and after. I'm glad I was fortunate enough to grow up when and where I did, even if I was oblivious at the time.

These three guys are amazingly talented musicians. And as a semi-professional musician playing with various types of music groups, I know it. Chris Cheney is in another stratosphere when it comes to a great guitarist. And Scott Owen is a monster on the upright.

Also saw them that tour in LA. Awesome concert! I was only a kid, older brother got us tickets :]

I was probably at the same concert, as I lived in Chicago around that time, because I remember going to The Offspring concert at UIC Pavilion in Chicago, only to get hooked with The Living End after the concert, and leaving unimpressed with the third band. Then I saw these guys play in a concert in Japan, and got the album signed by both Scott and Chris.

You ask anyone born since 2000 what music they like and you get "oh a bit of everything" The internet done away with the effort you used to have to go through to in order to discover new bands and buy their albums. In order to get into something you had to talk to others with the same tastes and actually get off your ass to hunt it down, talk to people at the local music store or, as I used to do, go to the states capitol city and go to each of the best music stores, see what they had. I'd buy stuff I'd heard about, take a gamble ect and it all resulted in an appreciation and passion for particular genre or two but, unfortunately those days are gone and kids now just don't have the same relationship or appreciation for music and bands/artists as they may have had if born a decade earlier It's a real shame

I was there, wouldve been 16 at time, got 2nd degree sunburn that day but totally worth it, unbelievable lineup. No smartphones, no rainbow flags or welcome to country, just the absolute cream of the crop musicians all packed into one day.

Let's see there's Angus,Peter Wells and Ian Moss who rocked the pub scene in the 70 and 80s,then shredding kinda died in the 90s and breathing space for who I reckon is the best ever Australian rock Guitarist, and let's face it Tommy Emmanuel had a huge influence on him and he's probably the world's best by a mile...I have heard Chris Cheney do some quick Country style fingerpicking and he smashes it...I'd love to see more of Chris Cheney just on his own playing Country,Rockabilly fingerstyle

That...is fucking depressing. I still have yet to go to Australia (I will one day, it's been one of my top "travel goals" since about 2000), but one of the more abstract things I loved about it was that it seemed like one of the last holdouts as far as mass appreciation of legit rock and roll. I suppose even ya'll have given way to the sway of the EDM craze
