Don’t remember any scales! They just had the shacks check stations for paperwork and for driver to go in to get delayed. Guy in shack at window would be outside to wave you to go on or say pull over driver for a visit 😮

Cattle buyers and feedlots habitually tell truckers to come 2 hrs before they plan on showing up. They hate to wait on trucks but don't give a darn if the trucker has to wait on them!
