Such a beautiful job. For the aircon cupboard I think I would have built it down to have open shelving underneath, to make it look intensional. Really love Grey's little hiding space 💛

Yes, we thought about doing this but I changed my mind last minute as I love the floor space below it and didn't want anything too bulky, it's also VERY close to the windows and curtains. I also worried as one day this might be a bedroom and I'd want a bedside table below it. It's maybe something we will do in the future.

I was also thinking if maybe the aircon cabinet was in the tunnel groove and French Grey, same as the cupboards, with the same handels it could look more like an intentional cupboard-space? 🤗 The space looks amazing either way though 😍

The air con bit you don't like now, you'll love it in the next few months! That will be the only room you wanna be in, you'll get the whole family up there when it's hot. Good choice! Aestheticly, it's not that bad! You hid it very well!

The loft looks amazing! I'm in Australia and grew up in the north where aircon is basically a necessity, it had never occurred to me that people might feel worried about how they look and want to hide them away - so used to seeing them they don't stick out to me at all! You've done such an incredible job on the space, well done!

American who feels the same! Those wall ones aren’t bad at all. The window ones are the worst (ugliest and loudest), but it’s always better than no air conditioning. Central air reigns supreme (if you need it).

It's really such a lovely room. I wouldn't even say that the Aircon is a mistake. Yes, it's a box, but it's not glaring at all. Plus, I used to sleep in a loft conversion for years too, and comfort over style always

With the aircon, maybe but a couple more shelves unterneath and style them nicely to make it look a little less like a box randomly put on the wall but a shelve that is half closed half open?:) but to be honest, it is not horrible at the monent, function over form! amazing loft

I work for a loft conversion company. It certainly looks a quality build. The choice of colours flow perfectly.I particularly like the black staircase. Benjamin Moore have a superb colour range, and better quality than rival designer pants IMO. One other point is you can get remote control Velux windows for temperature control and hard to reach windows.

Looks great! Would be interesting to know how long the project took from initial drawings to the building work & decorating being finished? And how long were the builders in the house for? I'd also be really interested in seeing a video broken down of the process of getting the loft conversion. Like do you approach an architect first or builders? And what are the steps along the way? Thanks! X

ok let me try break it down here... We reached out to an architect in January 2021. At the same time we checked our builder was available for the project. Confirmed architects services in March 2021. Drawings done in April 2021 (and any council submissions needed - depends on borough and what you're building). Builders started work in August 2021. Majority of the build is done from the outside of the house with scaffolding. We paid extra for a roof on it so work could continue in the rain. They only came into the house for the last few weeks once the windows were fitted and they couldn't access it from the scaffolding. Loft was finished end of November 2021. Took a bit longer than it would normally for various reasons. Watch my Vlogs for the process. Hope that helps!

Finding a comfortable sofa bed is such a difficult task. They often tend to be far too small as well. How are two adults supposed to fit on a bed that is 180 cm long and 100 cm wide? You did a wonderful job on the renovation! It looks so good!

Lily, you're so thorough! The velux windows look so nice and so easy to use. I looove the cool lamp shade! And the bathroom is so cute! The aircon thing isn't ideal, but I have a feeling you won't mind as much when it's summer time. We have mini splits in our rooms, just out there, and I basically forget they're there. What a great new space!

Beautiful conversion - I'm always amazed at how quickly building projects come together in the UK. Projects like this seem to take forever here in the US - at least double the time.My next door neighbor had a bathroom conversion done - just new fixtures and flooring - and it took a year! No walls came down, just replacing things!

Absolutely fine this cabinet for aircon, looks like one of those modern ikea cupboards. Not a fan of the sliding doors, as they don't hold noise enough, but I understand why you had to go for them x

Wow what a gorgeous and versatile space. Well worth the wait. I definitely think you don’t need to be worried about the AC. I guess they are common in my country so it doesn’t really disturb the aesthetics or interior design of a room down in Australia. I assume that box is the delay you spoke of on IG? God I love your choice of flooring, I never considered putting "dark" woods but it had so much character to the room! I also love your choice of putting your desk in the corner, it seems really cozy. You did a great job :)
