Julie Rodger’s is wonderful. In the time of that show it’s absolutely great. Try to put a raw live show now😳

We saw this last Sunday on the series Sunday Night at the London Palladium on Talking Pictures Sky channel 328. We enjoyed this episode so very much. I love to watch his stance with one hand in his waistcoat pocket and his lovely mop of thick, black hair and his cheeky smile with his eyes always glancing upwards at the audience in the balcony. He's sooo very CUTE🐰 ♥️🥰🇯🇲🏴🕊️🔥✝️

For a moment I thought Julie Rodgers was going to turn into a Benny Hill parody.

I love music of the 1960s, even though I wasn't born until the tail end of the following decade (alas, not a nostalgic bomb for me; as would be for those getting into music actually in the sixties). Unlike Cilla, Dusty, Sandie, Lulu, Petula and Shirley, I had never heard of Julie Rogers before this video that recently popped into my KZbin feed (and I'm so glad that it did). I totally disagree with a comment about Julie being 'terrible'. What?!😯 Julie Rogers has a wonderful singing voice. Thankfully she soars whilst she sings and doesn't milk every note. Too much ego wanking nowadays and not enough simplicity, thus connecting to the emotional narriative of the song. Many a modern day singer could learn a thing or ten from the old school singers (Julie included). They had such class too. I love the brazen shamelessness of Jimmy Tarbuck's jokes (😆) and both 'Temptation' and 'In My Room' are wonderful songs, I feel happy everytime I listen to them. Such a wonderful gifts and music that'll be in my cherished CD collection forthwith.🎶 Thank you Mark1796 for uploading this video.🦋☀️🧡

Is this a coloured version, or was it originally recorded in colour in 1966? I doubt it was recorded in colour in 1966, as ITV would not go colour until November 1969.
@Mark17962 жыл бұрын
It was a colour recording originally made for America in NTSC as they had colour then.

It was a test to broadcast color on 405 line pal to save money on new transmitters... The results were milky..one of the cameras went faulty during the performance.. They scraped the idea and upgraded ..
@mrm8401 Жыл бұрын
The camera was not faulty it had the wrong turret lens for focus. You see the end of 405 camera to the side with its zoom lens. Changing turret while in broadcast is a no no.

On the lighting point colour cameras back then had very low sensitivity. However, too strong light would have overexposed the black and white cameras.

This is definitely not 625 lines - was it filmed on US equipment? It looks like 525...
@johnslateril8 күн бұрын
I believe it was actually 405 lines. I can't find the source right now, but there is a story online somewhere of this tape being discovered, and only blooming into colour when the VTR was switched to 405 line (PAL I think, although possibly NTSC). There are posts about this being recorded in colour 525 line NTSC for the American market, but that doesn't ring true when you think about whether the talent on this show would appeal in the US

I thought Julie Rogers was terrible. I read recently that she was the original choice for the film titles for "You Only Live Twice". I've heard the recording, and it is also terrible. After hearing it, JB et al. re-wrote the composition and changed the arrangement and chose Nancy Sinatra to re-record it for the film. Much better, one of the best Bond themes.
