I love how the "grid" of space warps around high mass objects, showing the curvature of space/time around a planet. I don't know if it matters more than just looking cool for the 2D space map, but it's a nice touch, and if you actually did make an accurate 2D map of space (somehow) that'd probably be how it'd look.

It gives a visual cue to how strong the gravity is around the object, but mainly its eye candy for people who gets whats going on.

Getting infested* is basically a side effect of their gifts, and their kind of greeting as well, since it seems like they don't perceive this a something of a problem for us, rather simply an induction/assimilation into their way of life, they genuinely don't seem to perceive what they're doing as evil by the standards of other species, which essentially all others do indeed... I kinda feel sympathetic for them...

It's weird that more interstellar drives don't get small-scale test (e.g, a jump from Earth to Mars, or even from Earth to the Moon). While no amount of testing will protect the crew from high concentrations of plot, it certainly seems much safer than jumping across the stars for a test flight.

Scott manly quick question. I always launch to meet the moon (I'm just now starting Kerbal Space Program but I know a lot about it) but anyways as of thing what happens if I'm behind the moon and I'm in the exact same orbit as it how do I speed up to catch it?
@jevry43077 жыл бұрын
wait you matched your orbit with the moon? wow... if you want to rendevous with any object in space you never match orbit. you shouldn't do that. well until you are close enough that is. i could explain fully in a comment, but just search either ksp rendvous tutorial. or ksp planetary transfer tutorial. ah screw it i feel like typing out a full tutorial ok notice how lower orbits move faster? ok good. now step one, set your target (the moon in this case) as your target. the orbit of your target should now appear yellow. if you can't because for example you are playing career. upgrade you comms center and contract center. now you should be able to. step two, don't try this with a ship with matches orbits with the moon, get that ship home. instead try this with a ship in low kerbin orbit. (70-120 km orbit) next step, click on any point in your own orbit and click: add maneuvre. (again, needs upgraded buildings) next step, see the 6 buttons around the circle? they ofcourse represent wich way you wanna burn. if you don't see them click the icon that appeared on your orbit. now click the yellow button without the cross in it, this stands for burning in the direction you are moving in. and since you wanna go faster... i think that is obvious. next step, pull this button away from the center until the other side of your planned orbit crosses the orbit of the moon. the harder you pull, the faster it will add delta-v now, it is very likely that nothing happens at this point, so clock and hold the middle grey circle of your maneuvre node, and move it around your orbit. the planned orbit will now move with it. keep doing this until you see 2 grey marker appear at the end of the orbit that touches the moon's orbit, that means that when your ship is at grey marker 1. the moon will be at grey marker 2. now move around the orbit around a little more, maybe even adjust the maneuvre by messing around with the other button a bit. the moment you see a purple moon and a purple line of orbit. stop. you just created a moon transfer maneuvre node. well done. when your ship is at the maneuvre node. move your ship's orientation to the new marker that appeared on the navball. when the countdown timer says about 15 seconds until maneuvre node is crossed, start burning full throttle. keep burning until the number is as close as 0 as you can get it and the bar is emty at the side of your navball that appeared the moment you created the maneuvre node. your actual orbit should now match the planned orbit you planned when creating the maneuvre node. then delete the maneuvre node. if your actual orbit doesnt actually have the purple stuff at the other end, make another maneuvre ndoe ahead of your ship and fiddle around with it a little until the encounter re-appears and perform the just created burn. now click the moon and click set camera. yes resseting the camera to your own ship will be fiddly but whatever. see the purple line? that is your ship's trajectory when it flies by, how close is this purple line to the moon? if it is far away set another maneuvre node a little ahead of your ship and see if you can get the purple line close and at around the equator. now wait until your ship enters the purple orbit part, the game will auto-slowdown to warp x50 and the purple orbit will become blue. well done, you just entered the gravity sphere of the moon. now slow down at apoapsis until desired orbit is reached and you don't fly past the moon. might seem like many steps, it really isn't. once you have done it once it will be like learning to ride a bike. also, lookup the "oberth effect. it is more efficient to burn at low alltitude to change orbits then at heigh altitudes. because you orbit height at the apoapsis side will inctrease, decrease much faster. though orbit inclination is best done at high altitudes but that is not important right now. the important thing is to for the first time in your live, timewarp to the moon and feel like a moon sized meteor will crush you while you look at the moon in not-map mode. because that, is an incredible, though slightly terrifying experience now the same you do when rendevousing with another ship but there is nop gravity to help you meaning your distance from the target has to be withing at least 4 km. wich when you are at the closest encounter you match speeds and orbit with the target and slwoly let yourself drift towards it. but that, is for another day. and remember, NEVER match speeds and orbit before you are close to desired target.
@jevry43077 жыл бұрын
now also i should note, i have autism so i have an unfair advantage of learning quicly and stuff. but important for non-autists in games like ksp is to experiment. and if you fail at first, don't try to do the exact same thing, try a different aproach instead. or do what smrt ppl do, use the in game kspedia, your intro to all the games basics from rendevousing to mining ore or try to get autism, no vaccinating doesn't help getting it. try a fidget spinner instead. staring at those thing spinning the whole day is the most autistic thing you can do.

I blame the British discoverer of Aluminium (Sir Davy's) on the naming and pronunciation issues in the USA. Originally He named it Alumium, then changed it to Aluminum, then changed it again to the official name Aluminium. The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) officially standardised on aluminium in 1990, Up until the 1890's it was spelled Aluminum in Webster's dictionary. Most likely due to the first sample being sent to the United States from the United Kingdom being labelled "Aluminum". So not our fault! And don't even get me started on Color. (smile).

This, as with FTL and the genre of proc-gen games. What is frustrating is that the generated universe may in fact not be winnable unless through a lucky path taken. And the worse bit is if that impossible section comes way later in the journey. I always have that at the back of my mind - is my run-through doomed from the start I just don't know it yet? Here's hoping this one guarantees a win when done right.
@timothymclean7 жыл бұрын
FTL, at least, shouldn't have any unwinnable starts. Some will be easier than others, some will encourage one playstyle over another, but I haven't had a loss that can't be pinned on one mistake that got out of hand. I can't say I'm familiar enough with all other such games to vouch for them, but...probably the same thing.

wat KSP has NOTHING to do with NMS, subnautica too, mass effect is a RPG and older than NMS. My point is that this game is based on a PROCEDURAL galaxy that you can explore, but there's more interaction with the inhabitants and it's more complex than landing on a random barren planet, take minerals, go to another planet and repeat
@jevry43077 жыл бұрын
yeah and my point is that comparing, even mentioning nms needs to stop never understood what people saw in the game anyways. yay, flying around in spaceships, doing shit. because there totally arent exact games like that but with better graphics already or anything... just too lazy to look for them, should have had more money to put in advertisements those games...

Very interesting take on these kind of games. But like in so many of these FTL style games too many events are made to frustrate and too few to be interesting or even fun.... I wish someone would use the concept to better avail. Lower difficulty, more fun. Especially indie devs often think mistake frustration for challenge. Of course making people die faster requires less content.
@RAFMnBgaming7 жыл бұрын
Yeah i've used procedural generation in projects before and if there's anything i've learnt studying stuff about it is that you've gotta give it enough of a structure to make it make coherent, enjoyable experiences. I think Rimworld's a good example with its narrators that up the difficulty based on how you're doing and how time goes on as well as the true random one.
