Despite all the buzz about China's new stealth aircraft in testing, it's important to contextualize these developments in the broader scope of international competition - because while China has made significant strides in recent years, they are still playing catch up in the realm of low observable aviation.

The stingray low observervable tanker is honestly one of the most critical stopgaps for a potential war with China, being able to safely increase the f35s combat range without the worry of being sniped at extreme range like the existing tanker fleet.
@ypw510

Some people are looking at the cost, which is apparently higher per unit than the F-35 itself. But the unit cost will probably go down with serial production. I'm wondering whether or not it might be useful for land basing too. As you note it's low observable and I'm assuming can handle austere conditions better than a KC-46. If Boeing could equip the MQ-25 with a small boom, that could be something that could be useful. I've heard that traditional tankers keep away from the edge of the fight.

Merging a few funding channels like the one from the FX AA. So I have no doubt that it will get released eventually in some shape or form ( and that is what I'm personally waiting for). But the thing is that, not many people realize that it won't be anytime soon. The official deployment day for both Russia, USA and China 6th gen crafts are 2030's or 2035 to be precise is where they supposed to enter the service officially, and before that point would be flying as test crafts etc.

But when the NGAD plane come out of the shadows, it'll probably look like something we've already seen and will be of no great surprise with regards to its shape. I'm surprised the fighter community hasn't thought to build a blended wing on the F-35 (similar to the F16-XL) and see how that goes 😇

In stealth alone, China and Russia have yet to match the F-117, more or less the B-2. The first being 1970's American Tech and the second being 1980's American Tech. The concept B-2 first flew in the 1980's, hence being tech of that decade.

@@iamscoutstfu It has been flying in and out of the combat zone. The only 5th gen craft that did it and that is keep doing it daily. That is the only Russian craft that hasn't been shot down, the only one. So that proves that it is the best one at that. Detecting anything (even if that information is correct), doesn't matter and doesn't mean anything because it has AEW onboard, and literally creates electromagnetic copies of itself around itself as EW if needs be (it has radars and EW units all around it's fuselage). So even if it was true, it could have been doing so deliberately and on purpose, but we don't know and can't know for sure. The only objective metric is if it gets shot down. And as it stands the whole of NATO can't do anything about it and can't shoot it down. And it has been tested in active combat environment since 2015 in Syria (first as a test craft, and now a fully ironed out Su57M craft - the best 5th gen craft in the world).

The biggest difference this makes is our experience in using stealth craft. You'll better understand a technologies real limitations and how best to use it if you've got not just more but also a broader experience with it. This is in regards to operational planning more than just general use.

@@accountantthe3394 The PLAN have been able to successfully "acquire" numerous technical schematics and other data from several programs, including both the F-22 and F-35. There have been criminal cases about those responsible for sharing national secrets. Although this data is incomplete, the Chinese aerospace companies do have talented engineers of their own, who then adapt foreign designs within the scope of their current manufacturing capabilities. The J-36 is presumed to be a riff on the proposed F-22FB variant- a twin seater stealth fighter/bomber that would work in tandem with the dedicated F-22 as a central node ISR platform or medium-to-long range bomber. The concept itself isn't new, although it does appear that the PLAN are dedicating lots of resources to make the concept operational. I was raised to be polite- even to PLAN internet trolls like yourself. Happy Mao Day!

You don't only seed 1 Crop for decades, or put all your eggs in 1 basket. That's a GREAT way to lose everything over a single point of failure being compromised or discovered. And we didn't "Just" develop the F-22 Raptor, F-35 Lightning II, F-16 Fighting Falcon (Viper), F/A-18 Hornet/Super Hornet, or A-10 Thunderbolt II (Warthog) either. They had to get adopted over the YF-23 Blackwidow II, X-32 JSF, F-20 Tigershark, YF-17 Cobra (Which like the F-20 was also decended from the F-5; but unlike it after both lost to the YF-16 in the USAF, it would persevere and go on to become the USN's F/A-18 "Hornet"), and the Northrop YA-9 which was basically an American Su-25 before the Su-25 existed. ALL had plenty of quality too, they just didn't get picked due to "Insert X Reason Here".

Loyal wingman is a concept, but now it's also a product name by Boeing. Gambit is a branded product system/family of drones that network to accomplish tasks, some Gambit drones are CCAs perhaps functioning as wingmen, some are surveillance, some are ECM duty, etc. It's one companies solution to the NGAD integrated system question... CCAs aren't any if the above, but also all of the above, because it's not a program, a brand, a system or a concept, it's a type of drone: a drone designed to collaborate in a combat unit with manned aircraft as an AI teammate who functions obediently with limited advanced autonomy. It's like saying a mammals, a lion pride, a cat and Simba are all the same.... not really but yes? It's a confusion of categories.

@@ypw510 China no, but Russia (it's strategical and key ally) yes. You do get Chinese interests pushed here on youtube though because they aren't under sanctions and they have control over some parts of the US. The problem is that all of the Russian ones are immediately wiped out. (I literally subscribe to the particular Russian channel every week or so because they remove it every few weeks lol, and it's been banned like 30 times already). So I was more speaking in terms of the Russian "prowess", and how people from the US don't realize how good it is because they aren't being told about it or are being told "not true" information on purpose. But speaking of the Chinese I got nothing against them. We shall see how it goes I guess with their 6th gen as of now it's only prototypes, but they do produce good 5th gen fighter crafts now, and we know that J20 is a good craft because it was developed together with Russian engineers ( it's the modified "MiG 144" project). I've got nothing against the US crafts either. I just love the technology from every country... But you do get alot of hollywood dubious propaganda which is more so there just to create an image of "superiority" to rub on peoples egos without actually giving it a fair comparison to the adversary crafts and informing people correctly on the reality of things...
