Bought a brand new 2858-1994 had it all through the great Lakes and it could take it. We loved that boat so, much three years ago we bought a 3388 1996. The first week we had it we were in a bad storm on Lake Erie, four footers for sure she handled her own🛥️ great boats!

After operating & videoing this same model boat in 5 foot waves last week, can confidently say there are 10 footers there. Cameras with wide angles do not capture the scale. It looks much tamer than it really is. 100%

5 feet. Did you break as many things as I did? I hadn't put everything away properly...
@mkp38243 жыл бұрын
Well, that was a decent swell going. Some big rollers were in there, for sure, but I'd say average was 4-6. When I was up on Lake Erie once, we had a lot more waves, shorter waves, that were about 5 to 6. A lot choppier. That looked like fun. My brother is looking into a 3288 with 351 Ford motors.
@mkp38243 жыл бұрын
@M M it's not like some other large lakes and oceans. It's really shallow, so it gets really choppy. Waves going in every direction, not in one long swell. So the rules of going up sea, down sea, side sea, cross sea, often don't apply. I used to live on a system of inland lakes, smaller lakes. One's that a good swimmer could probably cross. In the system, there was one really small, shallow, lake. I'd ride by it every day on the school bus. Even though the waves were probably no more than a foot or so, it looked like a washing machine stuck on agitation cycle. Just choppy water, every which way. Same with Erie. It's a different kind of rough. Guys in 40 plus foot Sea Ray's have been scared to death on there.
@austingood53092 жыл бұрын
@@mkp3824 Erie is no joke especially during a storm. My parents decided to take our 38' Scarab out to Kelly's Island one year. Made it about 20 minutes out before storm started to come through. Was 3 hours of 6-8 foot waves so choppy the boat would just drop straight down or would dive into the next wave.

@My Boat and My life You ain't lyin'. I'm from the Puget Sound and my Dad had a 1985 Bestway/La Belle 44' trawler. Just a classy old school boat. The main issue with it is that it was such a tall boat with the canvas covering the bridge at the top, yet only displaced about 3 feet deep into the water. Great for shallow water maneuvering! Coming through the Straights of Juan de Fuca with the winds whipping up? Good time to make peace with your higher power lol. I was always a chicken on the water though, even in significantly less perilous situations. My Dad though? Salt water dog. Never flinched. 20 years Navy, 15 Merchant Marine, was more at home on the sea than he ever was on land. You appear to be cut from the same cloth! Fearless!
