I've played the drums for over 35 years thrash and death metal were my roots, I have to say you and others on KZbin are amazing, I'm self taught, and did everything by ear and playing records on slow speeds , and it's served me well, but having a guy who breaks down some of the best metal drummers in history has given me a new lease of life for playing death metal and thrash metal again, I'm playing better at nearly 50 than I did at 19 ( and that's mostly down to technique, and better quality gear ( pedals especially) I know you have covered some Dave Lombardo, but please could you do a series on his fills on the following albums, reign in blood, hell awaits and seasons in the abyss, I know there's millions of us still playing who would love that.

Your comprehension and ability to reproduce it is astounding. Most drummers who want to cover this song will not be able to hear it correctly and will fail or give up analyzing it... Even if they understand it well, it will take them many years to acquire the technical skills and fast stick control skills to finally be able to play it! ... Thanks for making these really great videos available!

Don’t ride his dick too hard. It’s a relatively simple set of single stroke roll’s to remember and he would have played each of them a thousand times. I would have liked to hear more interaction with the guitars or bass but that’s not the nature of long hair death metal. A couple of years on the kit and you could do the same. The impressive part is his ability to stay really smooth while keeping the intensity high. Playing fast isn’t hard. Playing g aggressively at speed is very hard.
