Another reason why FAS might have done this is to force clubs to keep their players on the books for longer. Some of our less reputable/less financially stable clubs have a reputation for offering contracts that only last the length of the season or as we call it "11 month contracts". Normally this doesn't matter too much as the players will finish in Sept/Oct and find another club or renew their contracts by Dec/Jan. But with the realigning of the calendar there was a possibility that some players would have gone 6-8 months without a contract and income. Hence the pronlonged long winded slow slog of a season. But hey! Things are tight at the top of the table and plenty of excitement still left in the title race.

Thanks for featuring the much-maligned Singapore Premier League, but it is not the longest planned soccer season. The Russian Premier League's 2011-2012 season lasted 14 months (March 2011 to May 2012) as they transitioned towards getting aligned with the European soccer season.

Pretty soon MLS season will go from spring to Winter with the MLS Cup ending in December and the MLS Season start in the Fall with the MLS Cup ending in may

Those season breaks are so the teams don't end up missing out their best players during the league. It's kinda why some Brazilian fans hate the national team when it's not World Cup time, the local FA has been rather spotty about those international football breaks and their teams miss some of their starters as a result. They're even more upset when said players are called to just ride the bench or get injured in practice.

Don't forget the 2019-2020 NHL season resume in the summer of 2020 ended in September with the Stanley Cup Finals with the Tampa Bay Lightning winning it against the Dallas Stars and it was played in Edmonton and also the 2019-2020 NBA season ended in October with the NBA Finals where the Lakers won the Larry O'Brien Trophy in six games against the Miami Heat at the Walt Disney World Sports Complex in Orlando.

League is a shit show. Getting a team from Brunei to join, and not even having enough local teams to fill up ur own domestic league. How are they gonna attract sponsership or attendance. Also AFC is run by money decisions that ppl are not involved in football on a daily basics. Its just lobbying for gifts and favors

In most of the world outside of europe and south america, where the club culture is not as strong, the national team is the most impt thing. Essentially, you are a nobody if u are not in the national team. An example is how many americans only watches the USA national team during the World Cup.

Our Singapore Premier League, the so called "professional league". Its really pure rubbish. Lousy media coverage, lousy promotion, clubs do lousy promos, lack of proper information dissemination. They want fans to support but do all the things wrongly. SPL and all club webpages still carry OUTDATED information! Like seriously, its even worse then students league!!!!!!!!!

The one time our football show up I knew it must be stuff like these lol. Honestly even as a Singaporean I got nothing good to say since we are more into catering towards gamblers and bookies than it ever was to grow any sustainable local footballers. This is a dumb FA that think that someone renaming the League from S.League to Singapore Premier League will somehow miraculously fix the problems with the league.
