@DaWoblefetАй бұрын
I looked into this and Multi Battles definitely wouldn't be better. 4 Terastallizations won't make up for only being able to bring 3 Pokemon per player. This is bad because I am switching 4 Pokemon on each side, which I can't do in a Multi Battle because you can't switch with your teammate's Pokemon. I would lose a ton of switching opportunities, which is way more time than Terastallization would be. If you could bring 6 Pokemon per player, that'd be different.

Doesn't even get Metronome either for the theoretical edge! But even if it could be used, it would only work for one side. Using Stone Axe into Glimmora would set up Toxic Spikes on the *other* side, because the Glimmora has to be the one with Eject Button for Toxic Debris to activate. So the only real difference is five Pokemon would get poisoned once, and instead of Volcarona dying to rocks, I'd leave it with 1 HP and have it die to poison.

I've had a similar idea: what's the longest possible result of a turn? Maybe in my head I was always thinking about gen 1.

For some reason this reminds me of that one championship game where one person was clearly setup to win, like the other guy technically more pokemon alive, but they were on death's door and if they had actually played the game, he had no chance to win... so he just waited for the 20 minute timer to run out and won THAT way. To say that a lot of commenters were displeased is a bit of an understatement. And you had devil's advocates saying "Oh that's just how the rules work, he's allowed to do that." Completely missing the point that pokemon really should be using chess timer rules to avoid situations like that where the better battler couldn't win through no fault of her own. Still not fixed, apparently.
@DaWoblefetАй бұрын
Actually, VGC timer rules changed starting in 2017 to use a purely chess clock-style timer (called "Your Time"). It was I think near-universally agreed to be problematic for the game. A tournament can't just go on forever; individual games lasting forever can hold up entire rounds, and that's exactly what happened. Substitute Celesteela mirrors took over 50 minutes to resolve a single game. Dedicated stall strategies with Chansey + Guard Split cropped up which were generally disliked. Matches had to be resolved by outside intervention - judges had to manually calculate HP totals to determine a winner if Pokemon count was tied. After Gen 7, Pokemon switched to a modified system with a match timer combined with Your Time, which I think most competitive players think was the best choice.

@DaWoblefetАй бұрын
No, this actually would be a further optimization in place of the Smeargle with Eject Pack. Ditto would be matched across from the opposing Smeargle. Although the extra time taken to Imposter wouldn't count on turn 1, it would count when Ditto is being switched in and out by Eject Pack in the end of turn effects. Great thinking! It would mean the two "Smeargle" would be Speed tying, which would not be ideal for recording (I want to showcase the Eject Pack loops from the recorded side first), but it's also a pretty early reset so nothing too bad.

Hi DaWoblefet great video! This reminds me of a thought experiment I had recently. My idea was: could you get all 19 stellar Tera boosts from one Tera stellar Pokemon in one game? My theory is that you could have two teams of Smeargles, where each one is holding an Arceus type plate. The Tera Stellar Smeargle would know the moves Weather Ball, Terrain Pulse, Judgement, and Tera Blast, and all of the others would either be capable of setting up a weather, terrain, or trick their plate onto the tera'd Smeargle. Of course, for the finale, Smeargle would use the newest type - Tera Stellar Tera Blast. That is my theory, and if you really get the Tera boost from those kinds of moves then it is theoretically possible to get a Tera boost for all 19 types, my only question would be is that actually possible in game?

@@abashari5255 you wouldn't need such an elaborate setup. Any Pokemon with Metronome and Tera Blast could do it with enough time (give it a way to restore PP forever with Leppa). You could also use Copycat with a team of the other types without too much trouble.

@@RubytheFolf The metronome one would not work if you do it in a row but theoretically the copycat strat could use less setup and still allow you to use every Tera type move with no repeats.

@@SobreDunas honestly the main reason i got SV was because i heard there was a new Volcarona form in it, imagine my surprise when i find out there were two instead. Ive theorycrafted a stupid little mono-volcarona team with Larvesta, Volcarona, Slither Wing, Iron Moth, Snom and Frosmoth (i count snom and frosmoth as honorary Volcarona's). Also you have made me aware of my proclivity for misspelling Volcarona as Volcorona. Idk why, its my favourite pokemon of all time, yet i cant even get its name right lol
