The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11 author Lawrence Wright at UT Austin J-School

Lawrence Wright, author of the 2006 nonfiction book, "The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11," discusses his work with students from the School of Journalism in the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin.
Wright is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, screenwriter, and staff writer for The New Yorker magazine and previously worked at Texas Monthly. He's also a fellow at the Center for Law and Security at the NYU School of Law.

Excellent! I listened to the Looming Tower unabridged audiobook (highly recommended, read by Lawrence Wright) and I watched the Hulu miniseries, which I didn't like at first but gradually liked it on its own merits. The history of radical Islam and its roots and connections to middle eastern perceptions/feelings about the West, even from the 1950s is so important. The Middle East is still the great impossible puzzle to solve, and Mr. Wright does an amazing job integrating so many voices, as well as tell the lesser known but so important story of the intelligence breakdown between the CIA and FBI. Mr. Wright's methods and countless interviews, as a journalist, is so key to WHY the work is so good. Thanks Moody College of Communication for hosting and recording this, a really great service and complement to those materials.
