Bullsh!t copyright claims, most likely due to the Tolkien Estate as the Tolkien family are breathtakingly protective of Professor Tolkien's work. In fact the channel called "History of the Ages" was once called something else (I think it was "Lore of the Rings"), but because of the Tolkien family that had to change their name or they were going to lose their channel/careers.
@ryloken1919Ай бұрын
I've noticed at least three versions. They're not significant but the inflections with Frodo and/or Gandalf have some varieties. The rhythm in dialog or a repeating of a word because it was a work in progress. Phil is a legendary voice actor and LOTR fanatic.

Unfortunately it’s not an official audiobook (as far as I’ve been aware.) and this guy did this as a fan. He uses the official music from the Jackson movies, so it gets hit a lot with copyright strikes. It’s my favorite version as well, but unfortunately it’s kinda doomed to constantly be getting taken down and reuploaded

The showrunners of the Rings of Power really dropped the ball with their adaptation. Not bec. they added "diversity" in Middle Earth (if tea, potatoes, tabacco, fireworks, etc. are in use, then Black, Asian and American Indigenous people existence doesnt stretch the imagination) but bec. they lost sight of the heart of the story. Yes, Tolkien's vision of the world looks binary: they are "good" and "bad" races of beings but I think, his message was deeper than that. I think, his message is that there* are "corruptible" and "corrupted beyond repair" races and everybody in the 1st category has a choice to make: do the right thing or aligned themselves with "evil/darkness". AND more important of all: sometimes true bravery and nobility can be found in the most unsuspecting/"humble" kind of people, while the people, who look the most noble/powerful can fail their mission/calling and focus by focusing on personal advantages, visions of their own glory, etc. We dont need "female" versions of Sam and Frodo to do that, we dont even need a "fighting" Galadriel, even if it was a nice addition. We just need characters, that are at the crossroads of their journey. NB: Also, Sauron is a shadow, not "goo".

I was listing to the other video posted, 11hr Fellowship of the Rings. I think I was around 8hr 30min in that video. Any idea where that would be in this set of three videos? Spoilers below about the story btw: Last I remember Frodo, Strider and crew left Amul Sul and were traveling towards Rivendell after Frodo was stabbed. The group came to a bridge, Strider checked if it was clear of the riders. Without any sign of them the group carried on. That was the last of what I remember "reading"

Is the main voice, the narrator, a real one? It sounds very good, but he mispronounces words that...well, words that a person LEARNS the pronunciation of, rather than reads the pronunciation eg draught (as in that breeze under a door) shone (past tense of shine ) bier (as in funeral bier) laden (as in laden tray.) these all have not necessarily obvious pronunciations, and they're all said incorrectly in this - as though the person is seeing them for the first time and is trying to follow the spelling. I didn't really select these three words. These are just the 3 I noticed in the final 10 minutes of the video. And I'm not really complaining, just curious. Though, I do wish people would say things correctly. Words like this, do have pronunciations that people generally learn through hearing others say them correctly. It is sad when the old way of saying things become lost, eg so many younger British people now pronounce Lieutenant in the American fashion. Presumably due to television programmes. Very enjoyable video. It's sort of a shame that the film music was used. That apparently causes constant copyright strikes, and it isn't particularly needed. I hardly imagine that anyone would stop listening were the bits of film music removed, nor would someone be caused to listen merely because the film music is used from time to time. It is particularly ironic hearing the bits of film music in these chapters, as most of what happens isn't even in the film Oh...and why on earth does Tom Bombadil's voice frequently turn into a cod US southern one?
@lotrfanhome5 күн бұрын
The narrator is the real one. He consistently mispronounces certain words, like draught and laden, and sections of text are missing from the narration, too. This channel found a way around the copyright claims on the film music that have blocked other videos. They're normally caught and claimed during upload but may yet still be caught.
