I love the books, but I do enjoy this series despite the negative reviews it gets. I watch it for what it is, "entertaining". The first season was O.K., but every 1st season always lays the foundation for future stories (seasons) in some cases. I enjoyed "Breaking Bad" 1st season, but it didn't really begin to shine until the subsequent seasons. Give it time people, it will get better and if not, don't watch it. Watch something else, no one is going to flame or berate you because you disliked this series. Move on, watch something you like and enjoy yourself with family and friends. I'm 49 years old (Boomer) and believe social media can be a nasty place. Opinions are fine but attacking everything and cancelling everything because it's not viewed through your lens is sad. I, myself am guilty of certain biases that I'm not proud of, but I recognize these as opportunities to overcome and adapt. More than likely this post will get "flamed" or "down voted" to oblivion, but c'mon people, watch it or don't, there is no need to tear down others in the process for liking something you don't. In summary, I love the books and lore and I'm enjoying the series even though it isn't a faithful recreation of the original source material.

I've liked the approch - the characters seem more real and believable than the book - which was rather thin on details except the major battles; motives and the how were so lacking till this series. Excellent writers filling in the vast blanks that puzzled me. Either the elves were stupid beyond measure (from the books) or there were motives which this series shows rather well. Further, this series makes the process more believable and the use of an alloy (suggested by you know who) was a clever twist that was really inventive.

Have you ever heard of character arcs? Galadriel was described by Tolkien in her more youthful elven years as a rebel. Eventually she will become the wise and ancient Galadriel of Lothlorien. There's a whole journey for her to go on between those points.

Great trailer, you can tell they really put some effort into it, and they're basing it on the books. Where Sauron takes the beautiful form of an elf and tricks Celebrimbor into forging Rings of Power in Eregion. And when they discover they were tricked, Sauron attacks Eregion and kills thousands of elves, including Celebrimbor. I hope this season redeems the first one and is liked by the fans. Because to be honest, I'm one of the few who did enjoy this series.
