We'll probably never get to see that original cut of Solo but apparently it was basically done. Can't think of many films where nearly complete alternate cuts existed that would have been significantly different. John Hughes used to film way more than he needed and there's often a whole film's worth of cut stuff left behind. Planes Trains and Automobiles had about 90 minutes of the film trimmed away cos the original script came in at 3 hours plus extra stuff they shot as they were making it. A load of it has been put on deleted scenes for the new 4K release.

oh wow! didn't know that about Planes Trains and Automobiles. Wonder if there was a whole other mode of transport taken out of the title due to the cuts?

why didn't they just do some reshoots (or film extra scenes) to make it more of a sequel and set it apart from the theatrical version ? and then release it like a year after the first one and make loads of money ???

There’s the ultimate collection of Anchorman BluRay that has it. It maaay be on a streaming service? Basically I think you’ll have to do a little bit of a Google

Having always been a fan of the original, it feels weird that I still haven't seen this aside from clips on KZbin. People seem to agree that the best parts are on KZbin, but I still may give in to curiosity someday and just pay to rent it online (I've never seen it free to watch anywhere).

It isn’t a bad 2nd outing not as good as the first and the third but the story didn’t lose the goofyness and it had some of the same scenes from the first. A pretty young Justin Long
