Yeah, they decomposed overtime but left little pockets of their impression, sort of like fossils I believe. Some are more detailed than others though. Imagine hearing about this or seeing it back then.

Here's a quick explanation of this: The people of Roman thought that their god (Hephaestus) was working inside the volcano, so they didn't really care until BOOM they weren't killed by the lava they were actually killed by the burning ash of the remains of the volcano.

Imagine waking up on a beautiful morning in Pompeii, you hear the birds chirping and kids chattering and giggling until a earthquack happened as soon as you stepped out the door bricks were falling the tiles on the roof were falling off the roof Everybody stands still, you peer over the fruit stand you see smoke coming out of the volcano you were worried so you tried to enjoy your day and calm down hours later buildings started to collapse in front of your eyes you quickly turned to your shoulder to see smoke except bigger blasting out of the volcano you suddenly panic, the ground starts shaking again everybody starts to run in panic you try to run but the shaking makes you trip. You fall onto the floor you try to get up but the ground kept on shaking you look behind your shoulder you see a huge gas cloud of ash destroying everything in its path, your heart is pounding fast you're worried your legs and arms are shaking in fear. Pillars start to collapse you get up while the ground still shaking you try your best to get up on your feet and run, you start to cough due to the smoke in the air you collapse onto the ground the ash and plume from the volcano reach up to you the ash buried you, you soon suffocate and die with a fast death due to lack of air and smoke.

Perfect description. Left my infant baby in her cradle sleeping. Walked a few blocks to center of town to get food. Church bell sounded alarm. Ground began to shake violently. People running in all directions. Just wanted to get home to my baby daughter. Ground seemed to be cracking. Dwellings started to collapse. Air was getting thicker and was getting dark. Kept trying to run but I fell. Couldn't see. Couldn't breathe. Never made it to my daughter. We both died alone. Everytime I hear that church bell that reminds me of that day, I still freak out.

it was a very sad event in history and probably one of the most tragic stories we have. It is sad what happened, but at least it was not in vein, at least we can learn something about them and they didnt have to die for nothing. The casts are the most striking I think, and the saddest. You wish you could just pluck them out of that moment in time and save them, but you cant, we can only look back and learn.

They didn't evacuate fast enough or far enough away not to have died. Bodies are being uncovered miles away from the city where they took refuge in caves along the coastline. Also the sea was boiling making escape impossible. - I did a lot of research for a school project and found information that is not mentioned in most of these videos.
