According to Adi Parva of Mahabharat it mentions 8,800 shlokas and today it has 1,10,000 shlokas. Raja Bhoj during his time warned that if Mahabharat granth is interpolated like this it will become a camel's load. And today 90% of the shlokas are prakshipt/interpolated. And that's the greatest problem about researching on this great Bharat's history. And TV serials in 90's also spread a lot of misconceptions. Sanskrit Vyakaran scholars should come forward and contribute by identifying the interpolated verses . It's not only about the great war, that's only a result, after the mahabharat other sanskrit, pali and prakrit books mentions the lineage of rajas , dynasties and events in a chronological order as a continuation upto the so-called historical period till the Mauryas. And in that way original itihaas of bharat can be set again.

8,800 Shlokas are the ones composer by Vyasa, After That it was narrated by Vaishapayana (Disciple of Vyasa) to Janmajeya (Son of Parikshit Maharaj) then this conversation was further explained to The sages of Naimisharanya by Srila Suta Goswami this is the reason why Mahabharat is supposed to have 1 Lakh verses. Interpolation have happened no doubt, this was mentioned by Sripad Madhvacharya in 13th Century itself and that's why he Wrote Mahabharat Tatparya Nirnaya to give the correct Information of Mahabharat reconsilong everything. Interpolation is of around 20 -25 Thousand verses not the entire Mahabharat.

That Raja Bhoj story is propagated by Arya Samajis and is a hoax. Since ancient times Mahabharata contains about 1,00,000 shlokas. Infact, there are authentic ancient records to prove that Mahabharata has always been voluminous. Greek Sophist Dion Chrysostom (1st century AD) has clearly recorded, "The Indians possess an Illiad of 1,00,000 verses". Ofcourse, there have been regional additions overtime, but the overall text still vastly remains the same.

Pls quote the exact verses in adi parva that say Mahabharata had 8800 verses. It does say that these were very difficult verses that Maharshi Vyaasa composed but pls point the exact lines and the rescensiom that says this?
