I'm so glad you enjoyed this as I did and can give it a bit of love and attention. You really draw out the quality of the different voices. And you're right to say it is fun to read despite not belittling the grim elements.

As an aside upon seeing your shirt, I'm currently reading a New Zealand award winner The Axeman's Carnival by Catherine Chidgey

Goodness me, what a great book, thank you for your recommendation I really loved this despite struggling with the dialect reading. I felt if repaid the effort needed to read it and it will be appearing on my Christmas gift list!

I really enjoyed Love After Love (I love what a Guardian review of it said that at times you don’t read the novel so much as hear it!). I suspect Boysie Singh may be similar. Anyway very keen to read it. And from downunder in NZ very much appreciate the tshirt!

I was looking for a reason to skip some of the more unpromising Booker long list selections, and now you’ve provided it! Great review, and I will report back after I finish.

Interesting! I had looked at this novel but haven't seen anyone talking about it. I really enjoyed reading Love After Love and am now going to definitely pick up 'Boysie Singh'. Thanks Eric!

Glad you've found another winner! As for me, I was so embarrassed at the paucity of finished novels on the latest 100 best list I'll be reading something from there, probably Roth or Didion, but one step at a time, right?

Hi Eric just reserved Lost Loves from my library. Just picked up Private Rites by Julian Armfield. Hope it is as good as Our Wives Under the Sea.
