Nice upload. Blew my mind when I played this game emulated with Supersampling enabled. Resolution can really make old textures look modern.

I still consider this to be one of the best light gun games of the 1990s, although it was a technician's nightmare no doubt and it's getting hard to find a working cab with good guns. The one in my now-closed Mr. Gatti's arcade (I live in South Carolina USA) had a lot of IR sensor problems. Actually I just found a Lost World cage for rather inexpensive. You can play the game using a modified optical light gun or Happ/arcade unit, as long as you have the Model 2 Gun I/O board to connect it with, and 24khz CRT (arcade or PC one that can handle it). The pinout with this I/O is the exact same as House of the Dead/Virtua Cop 2, although Model 3 requires a 3.3V power supply (I use a Naomi SUN PSU with an adapter). To get the full audio in this game, you 100% need a mixer board or an amp that accepts multiple line-level outs, unlike other Model 3 games that usually play music and SFX from one channel. But man when you do get the full audio setup working, it sounds amazing! Especially on my little Bose Companion 2 Series III desktop speakers.

Thanks for the nice comment. Last year I bought a spares or repair Primeval Hunt cab, I had no space for it and couldn't keep the cab So I ended up completely gutting it....RIP Primeval Hunt cab. Unfortunately the Lindy PC was toast, but I do have another working Lindy (VF5 FS). The PH cab had all the bits required to build a gun setup, plus the touchscreen for PH. The plan is to make a setup that can be installed in one of my Blast City cabs. I do have a spare Blast City monitor bezel which I'm going to modify and mount the sensors to. I will have to drill holes in it, so that should be interesting! I do want to play this game as you are not the first person to state how good it is. I've never gave the game much time to be honest so I don't know if I'd like it more than something like Virtua Cop 2, VC2 is probably my favourite nostalgic gun game. So whats the deal with the sound on JP? When I captured this footage, I think I only captured from the front L+R connector on the M3 filterboard. Does this game have different sounds from the rear output too? I did notice that on LA Machineguns, there's some ambient sound effects coming from the rear output on that game. Thanks.

Yes, Lost World uses different sound effects on each channel, unlike other Model 3 games that can have all SFX and music on one channel like Scud Race (attract and sounds), Harley-Davidson, and I believe Fighting Vipers 2 (I own all 3). CN7 (rear) is all music and CN8 (front) is mostly sound effects and some of the higher-pitched orchestrals. Optimally you can use either the Sega mixer board with the proper connection/harness or just invest in a line-level mixer with multiple headphone jacks. For the light gun itself, you can easily adapt the Sega Light Phaser for Master System and that worked fine for me on an old Iiyama VisionMaster 17 (Diamondtron tube) CRT that supports 24khz. I highly recommend doing this if you ever want at least a "means" to play Lost World. Though it's fickle with accuracy unless you adjust the contrast, which I do via a CGA/EGA-to-VGA adapter.

Wish this and JP the Arcade game were put out on the Sega Dreamcast back in 1999 with the Extra Levels added plus the different species of Dinosaurs to the TLW: JP Arcade port.❤😂

Yeah, I also wondered why it never appeared on Dreamcast. There was a lot of gun games, it would have been a great addition to the Dreamcast line up! Thanks.

Think you could upload the music tracks, then the sound effects, and voices in this game?
@icuk72 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't have much time to do something like that. I've also put the board back into storage now. You could try out an emulator Called Supermodel, with that you could enter the test menu where you can listen to the music and sound effects.

The original Sega Model 3 Step 1.5 hardware natively outputs @ 423p. Emulation @ 4K looks a lot cleaner but it can't improve the low res textures. When the original 423p (496x384) image is upscaled to 4K (3840x2160), the individual pixels will be many times their original size and it won't look as crisp as emulation. It takes quite a bit of computational power to upscale 423p to 4K/60fps using X264 @ 60000kbps. Personally I think 1440p is the happy medium when uploading to KZbin. The quality drop with the encoded video at 1440p is negligible when compared to 4K as KZbin encoding reduces the quality too much at 720p and 1080p. Thanks for the comment.
