Old Pikmin fanworks are such fascinating time capsules. I remember seeing some of these from KZbin compilations. Actually, old Pikmin KZbin videos seems like another interesting rabbit hole. Some I remember are Pikmin DS Adventures, Olimar vs Bulborbs sparta remix, and some weird Brawl machinima where Olimar goes on an adventure after trying to hook up with Zelda I think? Olimar's adventure or something like that.

It's not a dead insect on that one pikmin 3 cover- its a cicada shell from a molted cicada. Cicadas in Japan are a pretty big symbol of summer/rebirth(iirc) so I assume.putting it there was meant to add to the summery/warm nature vibes of the image.

There's a box art of a fake Pikmin 3 I remember that looked pretty well done, they were 3D-modeled and everything (or at least I think so, I last saw this at like 7-years of age), there were cyan-colored pikmin with black bands around there eyes that were plump like purples, I thought they were neat.
