I am 85 and was led the read the ook of Mormon 52 years ago. i dear wife is waiting for me in the Celestial Kingdom, I was given a vision of her, she was young and perfect. We were married 66 years and Sealed 51 years ago in the Salt Lake Temple, we drove form south Florida to UTAH.

I had a similar experience, through illness (one I still have). I was given the understanding that it is through this illness, I am returning to Him. There has been much suffering, but also much mind-blowing treasure and personal growth. I think of the story about the Gardener, which you can find here on KZbin. "Thank you, God...for cutting me down. Thank you for loving me, enough to hurt me." He prunes us because He knows what we can become. There is love in the pruning. He gives us opportunities to humble ourselves and make the necessary changes. Growth and change can be painful, uncomfortable...but oh, so necessary. Everything we endure here, if we endure it WELL...it will be well worth it. I have been extremely humbled, and have felt so loved, that God would think so much of me, to be my personal tutor in how to suffer. The worth of souls is great in His sight. We are not insignificant. We are seen, loved, and so very held. It has been through extreme suffering that I have realized the depth of His love and the joy he is trying to give me. xoxo

When they talk with you about the Church, focus on what they’re feeling rather than proving you’re right. Don’t make them feel ashamed for having questions or doubts. Don’t act shocked or hurt, even if that’s how you feel. If possible, talk to them about their questions calmly and try to help them find answers and to hold onto the faith, belief, and testimony. If someone wants nothing more to do with the Church, your relationship doesn’t need to end. Love them, be kind to them, and pray for them. If the Church and the gospel aren’t things you share with them anymore, hold onto things you do share. Let them know you care about them, not just their association with the Church. But don’t give up on your own spiritual goals, either. Try to lift them up, but don’t let them bring you down.

He doesn’t seem particularly wise to me... I value faith and I respect his, but his second truth is: truth is truth. And while wisdom may be trite, it need not always be revelatory, wisdom that is should bear the sugary kernel of some sweet truism. You know, an eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind, treat others as you wish to be treated, etc. But rather he uses “truth” to label his beliefs and justify his faith, when in reality he has little evidence of divine law to contradict another’s interpretation of it from the sacred texts. And if he cannot prove that his notion of divine law is, in fact, the way divine law IS, then it isn’t provably true, even if he labels it truth. Does that make sense?

It's much more necessary for the "active" members of the church that need to hear this. Those growing apart from the church dont feel loved at church so they dont go back. Once those who profess to be active members begin to show the pure love of Christ to ALL then, those who need church will return. But until then there is no reason to return. The gospel isnt found at church. The gospel is found in scripture, including the select times when the prophet and apostles are acting as prophets and apostles...not just when they speak. They NORMALLY only speak of their own thoughts, which are often times WRONG, and only sometimes prophetically. Yet almost every member believes they are prophetic all the time..which couldnt be more wrong. They are inspired as often as you or I in our callings. Stop being led blindly and learn to find out whether truth is truth through the Holy Ghost, not by man or woman..NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE...because they are equally as weak and uninformed as you or I.

In a similar way, I am not as in tune with the spirit as the prophet because he has spent years learning how to listen to God and respond. I listen but don't always respond the way I should. I have fallen in love with the heart of this man... as from his mouth the words of truth flow as living water - the voice of 'many waters' - water that brings life to any and all who hear it. God's laws are binding, and so and in such a way that they are inescapable in the judgement that they will bring... therefore there is no reason to aggressively enforce them, placing a burden upon those who may unknowingly act in rebellion against them. But instead, through love, kindness, and perserverence in these things, we will allow others to discover that God's laws are just and truth, are for our own good, and as such should be lovingly shared with any who will recieve them. Jesus as the 'Word' represents God's law manifested as flesh. He is to be our guide and our example of how to share God's love with others, that they could learn of the truth, appreciate, and then 'know' the truth. There is a good reason that the word 'know' is used as it is in scritpure as 'knowing' produces 'fruit', where in law or in relations between people. If someone is producing 'bad fruit' - and indeed no fruit is a kind of nad fruit as we were commanded to go forth and multiply - then it should be seen as an opprtunity to help this 'tree' to produce the good fruit that it can... each of us, gardeners of God's Kingdom. Thank you and praise God for my two by two friends who stop in and are not afraid to speak to me because of my extreme love for the Father and His children. I final have found someone - another prophet - whom I can enjoy listening to, my own words, the words of God... echoing back to me from this wilderness in which we have found ourselves for these times. So far, Russel has mentioned at least one specific thing that I have talked about, and most recently to consider that as being a prophet - and sent - that I must have agreed if not begged to be here in these times... and have found myself thinking that I must have been absolutely crazy for asking. May our missions - all of them and those who go - be blessed with a vision of a banquet left in our wake, as we 'feed the sheep'. Shalom.

This was exactly what I needed. I've recently been diagnosed and medicated and have been able to think and research and study and it has been just as frustrating but now I have more information and truth to form and support my opinions. My issue has been with false history, lies we've been taught (force-fed) as if they were truths. I see so many people around me having not studied the falsehoods they believe exclaiming with such passion "their truth" and I know this isn't just a political issue but can also be applied to the history and politics of the church. How President Nelson was taught that the heart would stop beating were it touched and he learned that was false, though it had been "true" for so long... Revisionism has taken a great hold on my generation and there are many falling for it regarding the history of the church and the truth therein. This talk confirmed to me the importance for everyone to be seeking truth and revelation from God; that by the power of the Holy Ghost we may know the truth of ALL things. It's not that we're allowed to know the truth of all things, it is more that we are obliged to know the truth of all things: to seek and to find, to knock and have it opened unto us. Receiving revelation line upon line, here a little and there a little, never saying we have had enough lest that which we had previously received be taken away. Studying till we come to the conclusion we want is not how God works. Academia refers to this as the confirmation bias. The media refers to this as the headline. I know and have been told by the Spirit: "This is my prophet on the earth today." And I said: "Okay. Thank you." These little conversations need to be had regarding every possible truth...

As we experience policy changes, based on love, love from the Prophet, and our Lord to better accept all persons as God's children, including LGTBQ+ and really everyone; we can be so critical of others and their beliefs and lifestyles and be so restrictive in expressing real love. Love shouldn't be 'hard doctrine' But, maybe that is why we are commanded to "...pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ..."

Yes, love everyone. Love them enough to help them understand God's Laws. God's Law's illustrate His love, not conflict with His love. God loved the Adulteress enough to forgive her AND tell her to "go, and sin no more". We must love people who identify as LGBT enough to help them understand the path to repentance, just as all of us must repent. We ALL are sinners, including those who identify as LGBT.
