This is a powerful and meaningful story about brave people of Sarajevo risking their lives to save the old history book, to save precious documents of the time and place and to show courage despite the overwhelming Serbian forces killing the city, burning the books. Thank you for this story. I visited Sarajevo with my son last year and we had beautiful and fun time. People of Sarajevo were the best part of this unique place with soul. First morning the sound of adhan (ezan), a Muslim call to prayer and sound of the church bells were colliding together in a magical harmony I still treasure in my memory. And, yes, food was heavenly. :)

In first instance, thank you so much for Al Jazeera for this wonderful documentary. I am Afghan refugee, living in India with terrible condition, but fortunately working in office and I follow Al Jazeera in spare time in office, I love most of the documentary, it is really amazing and historic, but this documentary (THE LOVE OF BOOK) is excellent and marvelous, when I was watching it, the tears was flowing from my eyes and cried too much lonely. I know and feel the grave horrible condition that the Bosnian Muslim suffered, because I am also from war-torn county. When I fled my home, the insurgents destroyed and looted all my properties including my beloved books. The resplendent Bosnian brothers and sisters who survived and rescued this gracious and historical Islamic books, are real Jihadists, because you preserve the strong heritage and knowledge of Islam by these rare manuscripts, the almighty Allah may grant you a surprising reward. If I make money I will travel to see this holy treasury, because there shown books with Persian writing too in video, I know Persian perfectly. ان شاء الله

I am not Muslim. However, like you, I too treasure books & the information contained in them. I believe in God who was once called the God of the Hebrews, now he is the God of all mankind. His name is Yahweh (YHWH) Jehovah in English is his name.

2,000,000 centuries-old rare books and manuscripts were burned in this library in 1992... an unspeakable loss for human civilization. Much respect to all the librarians who did so much to try to save as much of this cultural treasure as they could... Never forget, Bosnia Herzegovina, 1992-1995...

Libraries are like houses of worship: Whether or not you use them yourself, it's important to know that they are there. In many ways, they define a society, and the values of that society. Librarians to me are the keepers of the flame of knowledge.

Congratulations to Al Jazeera for showing 'The Love of Books' documentary. It also reminds viewers of the terrible war that took place in Bosnia It was grim to watch such a wasteful religious fight. Mustafa Jahic and his fellow group of book lovers and protectors will for ever be held in the highest esteem in Bosnia and the world.

Wow, this is incredible and so humane. Who could have known that these great people have shown an act of heroism during that terrible time. I was almost crying with this beautiful history, so heart-breaking and touching. This should be watched by younger generations to show them what this beautiful world has to give despite of difficult times.

This film has just been shown on Al Jazeera TV. I'd never seen it before and I'd not heard of the library. I would recommend that everyone should watch it - regardless of your beliefs. It is a powerful and moving film.

Oh my god, I saw a similar book in the library. When you read these books you get a first account from any country's citizens what really happens in the world. Fact by fact described. You get an immense behind the scenes look which country really causes or stops wars. You get excellent travel information if you ever decide to visit that country and so much more
