This evening I heard that call. I was trying to figure out what bird it could be. Suddenly about 3 feet from the ground a night hawk flew by. Thanks to this site for the help.

The Morning Dove in the background enhances the enjoyment of this video. I don't know where Pig General lives but I wish I still lived in a similar environment.

For years I called this the "bird that goes BEERB". I had no idea what it looked like or which bird it was, as I never managed to spot it! Thanks to you, I've confirmed that it was a nightjar... and also discovered that its song doesn't really sound all that much like BEERB :P But the mystery is solved! Thank you!

Nah it definitely sounds like “BEERB”

FINALLY! I've been searching for over a week for the bird that makes this sound! I always thought it was an insect or a frog, but then I realized it moved too quickly at night, so it had to be a bird! 😅

I live in a small apartment building on a very busy street in midtown Toronto. A few years ago I started to notice this piercing chirrup as this bird flew back and forth, sometimes followed by a sort of 'whoomp' ing sound. It was always at dusk through the evening, and it always started in April. He was late this year, I just heard him this week. Anyway, it took me a couple of years to figure out that it's a Common Nighthawk. Sometimes I can see him fly by.

They nest in gravel, so if there are graveled rooftops you'll often have them in urban areas.
@maryclaremayo61572 жыл бұрын
@@Keersten07 oh wow, I didn't know that! Thanks. Our street is flat top apartment buildings for a couple of blocks, and there's a huge ravine system right beside us, so lots of birds, bugs, bats, rodents, skunks, raccoons, foxes, coyotes, and sometimes even a deer will show up.

Everyone loves woodcocks for PEENTing and never offer any love for nighthawks who PEENT too. My sister and I refer to it as them "beeping."

Thanks for uploading! This bird comes around when the cicadas are doing their buzzes. So that had me thinking it was a cicada doing the beerb noise between singing. lol

I got in a small sound war with these birds a couple years back when they kept waking me up in the middle of the night. I never saw them, but the *BEERB* *BEERB* *BEERB* was always just outside the bedroom window. 😂😂😂

What is the bird that makes the three or four long "hoos" at the 0:07 mark? That is such a common bird here in northeast Georgia and I have been trying to find out what it is.
