America's No.11 of 1966 was the UK's 85th best seller of 1966.

@StormyLynn7243 жыл бұрын
@@bandgeekonflute I miss those days so much too….it was such a simpler way of living…..and I remember being very happy kid back then….and when I heard this song it was like the perfect ending to a Friday night! and that was back in the day when you could actually call the radio station and request a song and I remember my girlfriend used to spend the night either at my house or I would spend the night at her house and we would sneak a little transistor radio into the room and just wait all night for that song to come on! I remember being nervous to call up the radio station because I didn’t wanna wake my parents and she didn’t wanna wake hers… that’s because the phone was attached to the wall in the kitchen! So someone would now!! Lol And sometimes the transistor radio would go dead because we had had it on all night long just waiting for the song! and it was in the summer (obviously!) and the windows were wide open and you could just smell fresh cut grass from the previous day….you could totally hear crickets through the night and birds in the early morning. I mean I remember everything…. I was a young teenager….And early in the morning when I could see that the sun was rising I would hurry and take the transistor radio and put it back in my fathers garage so he wouldn’t know that I borrowed it! I would grab two pop tarts and a coke on my way through the kitchen and back to my bedroom….landing on the bed and whispering: “Score!” (my brother and I used to fight over pop tarts so to know that I actually got the pop tarts before him was a victory onto itself!) to think that was the worst thing that I could’ve done at that age was to sneak my dad‘s radio into my bedroom so I could hear a song…. Eating pop tarts and drinking a Coca-Cola….I just realized how innocent that sounds….that’s not The way kids talk today….. I remember that with such clarity. I don’t even think thats things that kids do today …. I don’t even know if kids today would even have any idea what I’m talking about. The summers of my innocent youth…. 🍺 cheers to a timeframe where being young and innocent was absolutely freaking cool!

From well before my time but I love it anyways! Age 42 here. John Sebastian wrote the daytime half and his brother wrote the nighttime half. 🎙️ Love the voice and those keyboard and electric guitar riffs! ❤️🔥🌕🔥🌞

This song always reminded me of August hot nights in Chicago, sun goes down but the concrete is still warm and humidity from the lake is stifling, people out on the porches and some even sleeping at night on their front lawns! Great Lovin Spoonful Song! It was #1 song on WLS & WCFL in Chicago!

Soul of American retro rock for 1966. Fave on AB and Lloyd Thaxton. Luv it. Summer lovin' type music. Sound effects, synth, and electro organ were quite good for that period. Helped us forget the Viet War, etc. Feelgood music, no joke. Thanks, John Sebastian and the Lovin Spoonful. Cupful of great music talent. Vive les pop, rock, and retro freaks ...

1966 and what a HOT summer it was in Ann Arbor Michigan. Delivered 7-UP in various nearby towns and sweat like a pig while unloading those trucks. But I'd be crying 96 Tears during the wet and stormy autumn that year and would be California Dreaming during the cold and snowy winter that would follow.

I will always love this song, until I die. This is the perfect song when there is a heatwave of the year.

I remember listening to this distorted song in NYC, on my older brother's 45, with no AC, in a hot NYC summer. I was a kid and said to myself, I can relate to this song.

This tune is spot on at catching that typical sound of music that can only be heard from this amazing decade.... the 1960s!!
