Today is the 100th anniversary of the US Marine victory over the Germans at Belleau Wood in World War I, if anyone didn't know.

an old military funeral poem by Ludwig Uhland (from 1807) is called THE GOOD COMRADE. This poem describes the pain of losing a friend on the battlefield. I feel like there lies an eternal truth in the words written by Uhland back over 200 years ago. And more important this song/poem should be the worldwide minimum standard played at servicemen funerals. RIP comrades. THE GOOD COMRADE (1807) I once had a comrade, You will find no better one. The drum called us to battle, He walked by my side, In the same pace and step. A bullet came a-flying, Is it my turn or yours? He was swept away, He lies at my feet, As if he was a part of me.
