When you're at the bottom of a pyramid scheme, you've still only lost money. Pyramid schemes grow exponentially, and eventually the bottom layer will require more recruits than there are even people in the world. That's when the pyramid collapses and the bottom layer has no chance of making any money. In the end there is a stark few people in the top who turn a big profit and a much, much larger gathering at the bottom layer who only lost their money.

@@patrickjacques2833 You are misunderstanding an essential aspect of the pyramid scheme concept. A pyramid scheme occurs when each successive level of the pyramid is earning their money directly FROM the lower level. A prominent example would be Younique (a beauty product pyramid scheme). In these schemes, most of the money made is from the buy-in fee that they charge new members rather than the sale of products. In actual companies, the majority of money is made from the sale of a product or service to a consumer or from a byproduct of consumer interaction such as deals between dealerships and banks. Hopefully, that clears things up for you.

So, just to clarify the pyramid scheme thing, what makes a pyramid scheme illegal is that you are using the entrance fee of the lowest level to pay the next higher level, and so forth. This is structure has been determined to be a type of fraud. If your pyramid scheme does not collect a fee to join the group, however, you aren't defrauding anybody and it isn't illegal. There are many cold-sale style businesses that do this, and it isn't illegal in the slightest because money is never collected from the members. Instead, commissions are disbursed based on your position in the hierarchy and proximity to the sale (seller gets 5%, sponsor gets 1%, sponsor's sponsor gets 0.1%, etc.). So it's definitely possible to create a pyramid scheme that is not illegal at all. However, it's still an extremely stupid business structure for anybody to sign up under. It's not that bad if you're the guy who created it, but since most of them fail completely it's pretty rare for that guy to make money either. By the time one of these systems is well established as somewhat successful, it's pretty much at capacity and there is no way you're going to sign up the number of people you would need to sign up in order to generate enough sales to actually make some good money. You'd be better off playing the lottery, honestly.

Access the camera app and put it on selfie mode. Proceed to take a deep look at yourself and ask, "WTF am I doing with my life?!" Anyways, I personally enjoy the New Zealand version of this show, Kiwi Tank. If ya'll had your facts straight, you'd know THAT was the actual first show.
