What bottle of Lowland Scotch have you been most impressed by?
@BelfastGАй бұрын
Easy.... Glasgow Triple Distilled. Just super light, sweet, easy drinking and on my 3rd bottle of it now (Although anything from Glasgow Distillery gets a huge thumbs up)
@AllouranАй бұрын
Jeff - I’m not sure how you wouldn’t mention Lindores and Daftmill 🫤🫤 Been impressed by both and always try to have a bottle on the shelf (Daftmill being a little tricky, but doable).

I think I only had kingsbarn from lowland. Docoot was nice one, The price is a bit high in my country, else I would grab more of it. How do you like your Speyburn 10?

Well everything but of course Lochlea is my go to. Holyrood, Kingbarns, Annandale and Lindores are also a good choice

Great video! I completely agree! The Lowlands are definitely on the up and up. Daftmill is simply fantastic. Cheers, Jeff!

I love your pronunciation of Auchentoshan. I will definitely use that one 😁. Love the Glasgow 1770. Have one of the Original. It is like sipping candy!

Daftmill by a country mile with a very honourable mention to Bladnoch.

I am yet to try a Daftmill to my shame and Bladnoch is on my list to dive into for 2025! Any standouts I should keep my eyes on?

Excellent video, Jeff, matching the quality of the bottles and slaps. Is flay-shrinkage the opposite of shrink-flation, or simply the same as?🤔 Would be fun if something could be both itself and its opposite at the very same time. A bit particle-wavey, perhaps?😲 Para-goose rather than para-ducks?

It’s definitely getting 🌶️ my 2025 goal is a lowland and English focus for sure. Current favourite is the auchentoshan 3W But I only have 4 bottles

Nice video, Jeff, but with different experience, on my side, I can't help being surprised if not shocked that you didn't mention 2 of the best Lowlands distilleries ever imho (ok I'm letting on the side another favorite of mine, if I had to quote a third favorite : St Magdalene) aka Rosebank (revived recently and present in my collection) & Daftmill (alas not yet in my collection). I think you mentioned Littlemill though (also present in my collection), but I understand our different 'time zone" if I may say...I hope you know how I'm supportive of your channel, so I hope you won't be disappointed about my comment. Anyway my answer to your question below by me should be the Daftmill 2008 Summer Batch release (bottled in 2019) small batch bottled at 46 % & tried last year in a show. It was a bit emotional for me to discover last year a "new" distillery being capable to rival (at least a bit) profile wise with monsters like the St Magdalene 1982 from Cadenhead I tried at a friend's house (I might still have a sample of it "somewhere"). Anyway, Cheers (& spoiler, I will give a wink to the EWA in my next week end video covering 4 whiskies from your country).

I admit the only Lowlands whisky I’ve tried has been Auchentoshan (spelling?) a few years back, which was okay. It sounds like I need to explore something from one the newer distilleries you’ve mentioned. It’s definitely a gap.
@welshtoro3256Ай бұрын
Lowland whisky has been great for ages. You just have to buy it from independent bottlers. Even before it became trendy I've had fantastic Bladnoch and Auchentoshan single barrels from the indi bottlers and they're still doing it today at reasonable prices. Miles better than the distillery offerings. Ex-bourbon is the way in my opinion because you enjoy the distillery profile without it being drowned out in sherry.
@JeffWhiskyАй бұрын
Independent bottlers was far from my radar on my early days and only making up for lost time now! Ex-bourbon over sherry all the way! What have been you standout Lowland bottles? Cheers.

@@JeffWhisky Old school G&M Bladnoch made some amazing whisky. Long gone now. I had a great Douglas Laing Auchentoshan 20+ years some years back. MOM have a very good single cask Auchentoshan 16 which is excellent value and still on sale. Go and get it.
@bobsander4589Ай бұрын
Got quite a few Bladnoch bottles since their revival. The 14 and 19 are my favourites but i like most of their range tbh. Got a few Kingsbarns too but they're still quite young. Glasgow is up and coming of age, especially at their price point. Just too many releases for me to buy.

Back in the day, when it was owned by Raymond Armstrong, I used to buy a lot of Bladnoch and loved it.

So was that pre 2015 Bladnoch? Have you bought any of their recent releases? Hearing very mixed things of the latest batches. Cheers for watching!
@DavidUKesbАй бұрын
@@JeffWhisky Yes, this would have been between 2010-2015. I haven't bought or tried any recent releases.
@awhiskybond8545Ай бұрын
Lowland whisky is overlooked because there is more established distilleries offering pound for pound better stuff. Glasgow started with 50cl bottles, and people quickly became disinterested, their Peated Sauternes was superb though. Kingsbarns is ok, and I know folk deeply invested in it, but I’ve said the same to them about their produce. Lochlea hasn’t done enough to convince me to stick with them, they lost John recently so it seems like I’m not the only one. Auchentoshan distillery exclusives are often amazing. Ignore the OB’s as Suntory Beam are more marketing less whisky. Very positive outlook on these distilleries though, but why are these distilleries falling flat? Especially online.
@meepmeep1313Ай бұрын
As a lowlander myself, I've always found it very silly the idea that distilleries like Deanston, Tullibardine and Glenturret are 'Highland'. They need to get over themselves and accept that there's no shame in coming from the flatter south/east of our land, and they should be proud to be in the esteemed company of e.g. Bladnoch.
@lewisduffy675Ай бұрын
Did you just do an entire Lowland Scotch video without mentioning Bladnoch? Dude WTF.
@JeffWhiskyАй бұрын
Yeah, sadly Bladnoch has never really been on my radar, working on correcting it! Any particular releases you would recommend? Cheers.

@@JeffWhisky The Vinaya is a decent NAS the 11 is the standard-bearer I guess, the 10 was a revelation imo but very hard to find now. Very distinct distillate with some funk and fermented notes cheers!
