As a PSA from a Part 107 operator in the US. The advantage of a sub 250g drone is that it does not require registration, it still however does still require a license to do anything other than "fun and recreation". (Ignore this in other countries laws vary)

I’m a fairly new 107, so correct me if I’m wrong but for those who are new to drones and wanting to understand: 250g is the magic number that the FAA decided a drone is no longer a “micro-drone”. If you are new to drones you might not understand how it could be a problem, especially seeing most entry levels drones are advertised as under. But I’ll share a real world example I faced when I bought a DJI mini 3 pro for my first one. It’s 247 (249?) so under 250, all good right? Well the battery lasts about 30mins but a 47 minute extended flight battery is available, but pushes the wait over. Want to fly at night legally? The strobe light is weight. Upgrade propellers? Yep. Safety guard for the propellers and yeah same thing. Will you get in trouble? It’s a pretty low chance if you’re responsible with your use. But I would NOT mess with the FAA. Spend the $5 to register it even if you don’t have your 107 yet. When registering even if you don’t have your 107 if you think you EVER might, register the operation type as part 107 as once it’s registered limited it can’t be changed.

The add about proper registration is good I missed that. And yes, any add ons for the drone factor towards that weight, due to the minefield that is non part 107 operations of a drone and the quite low cost for a course (I used pilot institute) and test, I thing it was a little under 400 when I did it is just easier.

Shawn’s drones are EXACTLY how I feel with camera’s. Like yeah sure, I got my stupidly expensive pro setup I shoot all my gigs with which makes my life easy for actual work, but I also have a bunch of other systems including film cameras etc. that I love a lot because they allow me to engage with the art medium differently which ultimately just helps me be more creative! For anyone curious about starting airbrushing. The Iwata Neo is a great entry level airbrush at around 60 dollars. Also if you already have a full sized compressor you can slap a moisture trap, air pressure regulator, and some adapters to hook your airbrush up to it. I can paint all night on one tank with mine.

while Iwatas are great in general, for beginners i would definitely recommend spending that 30-40 usd more for H&S Ultra 2024 from the video, that selector ring with pre-sets and trigger are game changers for someone trying to learn proper airbrush control

It's a psuedo-bill nye-comedy/entertainment for tech. love the educational aspect: talking about like magnetic/light waves to debunk gimmicky tech, information on sound systems and all desktop peripherals. i get updated with PC info here and stumble across unique, cool stuff I am not aware of to explore or at least be aware of

I've been calling them the Top Gear of Tech for a while but it doesn't quite capture the nerdy deep dive they do.

The so called "sexual abuse" or whatever that was turned out to be a blatant lie (LMG opened a case managed by a different neutral company that analyzed their work environment). The more recent gamer nexus thing has also been solved from LTTs side of things. Gamer Nexus claimed to do journalist work while not following journalistic ethics and letting his own opinions cloud his judgement. He also mentioned things without specifying the sources and ignored the request from LMG. This only says one thing. Gamer nexus is not a good source of information thus his opinion is (IMO) irrelevant.

8:10 Bah! it still has a needle. Ancient! OK so it's pretty sweet, but I kind of miss the record player I saw sometime in the 80's at a big electronics trade show. This was back in 84 or 85 and the big thing was CD players and VHS players. But one of the companies had a very interesting record player as it didn't use a stylus to decode the music on the record but a laser that scanned the track. To make it even better the laser read head was guided on a rail by pneumatics and it would follow the track even if the record was damaged and no longer properly round. As a demonstration they had a LP that was set off by a couple of centimeters and the laser head still was able to follow the track. The pitch suffered of course as the track would pass faster under the head when it tracked the part off far to the side while it would pass a little slower when it tracked the part that was closer to the center of rotation. At this time they didn't have digital tech that could encode and change the replay speed to mitigate this kind of problem. But it was still pretty amazing. Never saw it again after that though. I did hear something about the national radio archive buying one when they were digitizing their collection of records. I remember they had over 100 000 disks to digitize ranging from old wax to recent vinyls with everything in between. It took a while to digitize all of these, and a lot of them were very old and fragile.

It was a too good piece of tech to solve problems we face today, probably not that expressive at the time. Ah the 80s, too soon for me but what an over-engineering era. And a golden age of modern mainstream music. Good rock, hip hop crawling out from under the rock (pun intended), beautiful and soulf dance music with big bands, choirs and synths… sorry I digressed

Kind of makes me wish we could see some life style tech as a series. So like record players, go over them, expensive options, cheep options and what to look for. Drones, specs to look for, how to tell if you have a good drone and the science behind them flying. Sound systems for cars and houses, what’s needed and what is included and how you would set it up. Granted, I do also hope for updated PC parts breakdown and how to make a PC since the last in depth detailed one was back in lunus’s kitchen before tech tips was fully established I believe 🤔 with Linus and Luke. But yeah, definitely something I’d look into for future content. 0:01

@@Lun3k well there is a difference between weathered look and and poor paintjob, if you look closely brush painted one looks exactly like that, there are visible strokes of paint airbrush also allows you to make a lot more realistic weathering that "toy" look is also quite popular for Tau since they are not as grimdark faction as others

The JL W6 is a serious sub. Great SQ sub that can still get louder than 99% of people actually need. As far as subs go it is very fast and articulate. I’ve been using its little brother, the W3, for almost a decade now and have had no complaints.

@honeyfuntime It's kinda like an exaggerated meme with a tiny bit of reality, but basically if you tell someone (mostly carguys know the meme, but its overall known by many) that you drive an GTI some might ask you if you enjoy drinking Monster (the energy drink) or if you still got time until you have to pick up your Girlfriend from the kindergarden. Meme comes from so many 18-25 year old owning a GTI (because its a mass produced compact car with at least some power that wont break your bank) that think its okay to have a 14-17 year old Girlfriend. As i said, its more a meme, but you can probably ask in every city about some guy like that and have good chances finding someone who would know someone that fits the description of a 18-25y/o, monster drinking, GTI driving neck beard that might or might not have dated a 14-17 year old (which is legal but if you are such a person and would tell anyone this as your argument you will probably end up with a liver rupture)

Cool Video. Nice to see what tech LTT members are into and passionate about. Who cares what people think and how much it costs. A smile in your face is worth more. I'm passionate about music, and a lot of old school music (not the junk music now a days). To bring my music to life i have very expensive 30 year old ADS L1520/2 Tower speakers in Rosewood. They put a smile on my face every time i hear the sound come out of them. Probably the product i would show off if i had the chance.
