I mean we consider the mosin nagant rifle to be "soviet" even though it dates to the Russian Czarist Empire

It became the common bad guy gun because its design is quite unique compared to most of the other pistols the Nazis used in WW2.

The Luger just looks so much more iconic, admittedly the decades of films probably add to that effect, but it’s distinct. The MAB just looks like another gun, even a gun noob like myself can distinguish the Luger from other pistols.
