@@trickytreyperfected1482 A Borroca is a large dissolvable supplement tablet, primarily containing viamins B12 and C which is claimed to give you energy (or 'bounce'). When dropped in a glass of water it instantly fizzes in a somewhat similar way to a Mentos in Coke (but not that much). A lesser person might have used the adjective 'effervescent', but that implies someone more vivacious and joyful. Joe wanted to convey the image of someone instantly reacting with their energy fizzing out of control excessively. A stark contrast to the elderly lady.

I love Joe. I fully support all the letters he mentioned. Let people get on with their lives already. Who cares? What I don't understand is why we are so obsessed with sex and sexuality. We are not rabbits. Sex is just one comparatively unimportant part of life. What about the rest of it? What about our thoughts, our politics, how we treat one another, our fellow creatures and the planet? What does sex have to do with ecosystem collapse and the rise of authoritarianism? I just do not understand why we spend so much time and effort talking about such a tiny aspect of existence. Are we so bored? Do we not have enough existential crises threatening our survival? Can we not literally get our heads out of our arses?

@haeuptlingaberja4927 Жыл бұрын
@@irinasolomina1800 Sexual intimacy--and let's face it, rape--might well account for much of what we humans today think of as drivers of the propagation our insatiable species, but this is a very modern, highly skewed and limited perspective, all of it resting on a peculiar and blatantly fascist misinterpretation of Darwin. Nature is not "red in tooth and claw." Brutal, remorseless competition is simply not how Nature works. As Kropotkin laid out in his landmark, 1903 study (Mutual Aid), it is not violence and competition that guides evolution but instead symbiosis and cooperation. This does not mean that pheromones, for example, have not been triggering a procreative response in all complex life for many millions of years, but we humans departed from such blind, deterministic responses a very long time ago. We have evidence of broken femurs having been set at least 6000 years ago--a serious drain on resources when those grievously wounded humans could have far easier simply been left for dead. This is compelling evidence for empathy being a massive evolutionary advantage for us, right up there with communication and our bizarre adaptability. And this empathy has nothing to do with sex. Intimacy has many forms, of which the sexual variety is of relatively minor importance. Our societies, going back at least 200,000 years, have never--until now--placed such an inordinate significance on sexual intimacy. I'm telling you, in the grand scheme of things, sexual intimacy has always been far less important than the many other bonds of intimacy which have always kept us alive.

No, queer and gay are distinct terms. It's complex and everyone uses labels in a personal way, but as a very broad example, gay is typically used for men who love men or women who love women, and queer is typically a more catch-all term for people who don't want to define their sexuality into a more narrow range or potentially identify with multiple labels at once (e.g. being trans and pansexual, or asexual and bi-romantic, etc.). Though societally sometimes all queer stuff gets labelled "gay" for simplicity. I personally would not describe myself as gay, because I guess I'm technically bi but feel more comfortable using "queer". And my personal reason is that there's a surprising amount of biphobia and bi erasure done by gay people and allies (for instance, I've had people tell me I can't be bi because I'm with a male partner; or my friends who are a straight-passing married couple have both separately been accused of "turning the other straight"; like, it's kind of the point of being bi, your partner can be either the same or a different gender from you...). So I personally don't feel at all comfortable when gay is used as a catch-all term due to bi erasure but queer feels inclusive rather than exclusive.

@mimosveta Жыл бұрын
Such simplified definition of gender may work in English, where you can easily talk to othergenedered people, and not once mispronoun them cause in direct conversation in English, everyone is "you" and "me". However, I speak Serbian, where everything is gendered. Things too. Glass is of female gender. Desk is of male gender. Laundry is of neuter gender. When you talk to man or woman, or men, or women, nouns, verbs, and often adjectives change for each. You differently change words for different genders, for different tenses of which there are like 17, but most are rarely used. The one that ignores gender, is not used at all. We also have 7 declensions which aren't affected by gender as such, but are just there to over complicate things further. Now in Serbian, you could have best wish to use the pronouns that don't match what you see, cause person asked you to, but you'll have bazillion minefields to slip up, so, best intention is worthless. And if someone decided to add their own pronouns, they'd also have to come up with a hand book of instruction of how to navigate all the grammar for that particular gender. So, that entire gender debate to me seems like just another imperialist oppressive move that westerners want to cram onto people with different cultures, languages, and cuisines, where those same things just don't work. By pushing it, ya'll just causing confusion, discomfort, and oppression, cause if we have to change entire Serbian language (using it just as example, it's by no means the only such language, same applies to Russian, Ukrainian), and if you force us to change our language, what's next? Our culture? How bout you stop changing definitions of words, gender roles are societal, but gender, it's grammatical. If you can't agree to that, then we better counter sanction eachother, ban eanchother's culture, and go our separate ways. Your culture is not superior to mine: you people are savages who bomb everyone (you also bombed us) by falsly accusing your victim of your own crimes. Your media once calculated that saddam could bomb London in 45 minutes, except, how do you do such math when he doesn't even have weapons, from which you could extract information on how fast it could get there? So, you lied, to your public, so you could kill him and a million of his people, and you think your culture is superior? It really isn't.

Joe, as usual, you are very funny. However, a lot in this sketch completely fell flat. Asexual people are not members of the gay community. These are people that have decided that they don't ever want to have sex. That's fine, that doesn't make them gay. If the decision of a man, that he didn't want to have sex with men, made him a member of the gay community, that would mean that every straight man on the planet was a member of the gay community, ironically. That is obviously not the case Secondarily, many of these Newfound words that some people have foolishly started to use, are nothing more than derivations of bisexuality. Long story short, The LGBT community is fine. People who wish to join us can, and do not require their own column. We welcome all into the gay community, but in order to continue our March towards acceptance, we have to stop some of the ridiculous things that have been happening lately. Continue to make your comedy, but please please stay out of politics

Yeah a lot of these people don't realise they contradict themselves, and their definitions don't make any sense. Such as "triangle", where your "3" sexualities are straight, gay, and bisexual.... Which used to be just bisexual. But worst still a lot of these genders are just sexual preferences and not genders at all. Forgive the crudeness but someone who really likes animals... Enough to make love to them. Well their preference towards them doesn't make them an animal gender. But how many of these "genders" are defined comes down to who the person fancies. Which is really weird to me

The LGBTQ+ community is not the same as the gay community. The gay community is a part of the larger LGBTQ+ community. Asexual people are not gay, they are LGBTQ+ (and they don't decide not to have sex but that is not the point here). And the community is not just variations of bisexuality. What about trans and intersex people? There is such a broad range of sexualities and genders and it isn't right for everyone, but for some people those "newfound words" are important. I think Joe himself explained this really well: "You've got two options when you encounter someone with an identity you're not familiar with; you can be fearful of them, frightened, take the piss out of them or be fascinated, ask them loads of questions, be curious". I think you need to be more curious about these "new" sexualities and gender identities.

@@tarak23528 I am afraid you are not correct. First of all, asexual people are because they have sex with people. You do not wish to have sex with someone, get male or female, is a personal choice or decision. Even if it is innate, it is not attraction. So they are not part of our community. At all.

You also don't seem to be aware that demi-sexuality is also under the umbrella term of asexual. Learning is fun! But maybe I am just saying that because I am sapio-sexual.
