I stole a 5 cent candy from the penny candy store when i was a kid. It was my favorite little corner store, and the old man who ran it was a super nice guy. My father found out pretty quickly that i stole a candy, because being the dumb kid i was, i decided to eat it in the car. My father drove us Back to the store, made me walk in and tell the old man i stole it. He looked sad, asked me why I did it. Then after collecting payment from my Father, told me That i was no longer allowed in the store. Ill never forget the shame and guilt i felt all the way home and every time we passed that store i was no longer allowed in. Ive... never.. to this day, and im 40 now... stolen another item in my life.

In the 'mid-80s (before cameras), as a part-time job I worked at a 7/11 type store (FoodPlus) with 2 pumps - on my own. It was more strenuous mentally than my 8-hour job. I think back and just know there was a lot of theft under my watch. It would have been cheaper if another employee was employed to purvey the store. The business went bankrupt.
