The "running total" code is a nice application of List.Generate ! BTW: How does this compare with DAX measures that might accomplish the same thing. Just curious.

I think it depends on the application Bill. I believe the List.Generate performs better, but what are you using it for? Using DAX would make the measure available in visuals and other measures. A measure and a field are not exactly the same.

Accomplishing running totals with DAX is much easier. The code is shorter and less complex to understand. The application however is different. If you have a use case where having a running total makes sense to have in your data model, go ahead and prep it in sql or power query. You’ll be able to leverage better compression and memory usage. But if you need flexibility to show it on different granularities (product, customer, store, by week etc) or in different time periods, DAX offers the flexibility to address each level.
