For people with the iPad, the person doesn’t have to be in your messages to call them. As long as you have your iPhone set to allow calls to be routed to your iPad (or Mac) you can call them from the contacts app!

You can also type the number in facetime and make a call even if you do not have it in your contacts

You can also click any phone number in safari, or other apps (emails...etc) and it will call them like it would on your phone. :)

I use an iPad as my daily computer. My MacBook, grant it an older one, was just sitting on my desk collecting dust. I said older MacBook cause I currently have one but, I actually had the M1 MacBook Air and ended up selling it due to it just sitting on my desk and getting the iPad Air. I use it daily to watch your videos while I’m working lol. I also use it for light graphics work for my church. Keep the videos coming. Loving your channel!!!

Pretty cool. I’ve thought about trying that. I would’ve done it a little differently. Probably a folio case/Smart Keyboard instead of the magic keyboard because it’s more versatile and easier to maneuver. And then pair some AirPods or other Bluetooth for phone calls. As for carrying it, I’d get one of those super thin, single strap carrier bags that go across your body. Good video. And your little boy is adorable man!

Just came across this, fun times. I'm kinda living the iPad only challenge. I had a 2010 MBP that finally bit the dust last year, and out of desperation and morbid curiosity, I got the credit at Best Buy to get a new Mac, so I thought I'd test drive an iPad Pro with a folio case for a week or so and see what it might be like, still safe within the return period. Well, a few days in a guy in a stolen vehicle plowed into me and destroyed my vehicle, and somehow managed to flee the scene on foot. I was without a vehicle for many months and some minor medical stuff to deal with. I never got the chance to return that for a Macbook, and as an hourly warehouse peon, I don't remotely make the money to just get a new laptop, so my only "computer" is an iPad and its going to be stuck that way for a long time to come. I'm not mad though, it's alot better than nothing and I'm grateful to have something. Peace big homey, hope little man is well 🙂

Got some great tips from this video. Have now set up my iPad Air to receive phone calls and messages from my phone. I also live in an area where if you don’t have wifi calling you don’t have signal and my iPad has always received a better wifi signal than my phone. So am looking forward to trying out the calling via iPad.

Yeah that seems super unreasonable. I get when he's at home writing long emails, but when you're out and about, what's the purpose? It's too bulky every time you open up the ipad. Also, this seems much more feasible with the ipad mini

My iPhone die last year and I had to wait for a replacement for a week, I used my iPad the whole time, it was goofy to answer phone call outside but if you use your headphones (airpods etc) it makes it better. I am also a tmobile user so I used Digits. I could have gotten used to it. Not bad having options.

I’m pretty sure that you don’t need to just have them in your messages app, download the contacts app if you don’t already have it and you can click on their contact and press the same audio call button through their contact and call anyone as long as you have all your contacts backed up you’re golden bro.

You don’t need to use Messages or FaceTime to make a call. You can do it from the Find My app or Contacts. As long as your iPhone is on even if it’s not with you, the iPad makes the call using your iPhone just like the Watch when you don’t have cellular

You can also go to someone’s contact profile, or go into the FaceTime app and make calls. This is more than likely because it’s connected to your iPhone, as my iPad Pro is. I have been wanting Apple to add the standard ‘Phone’ app to the iPad for awhile.

my iPad + Keyboard + pencil is able to do 95% everything I need it to do. So for school work which consists of notes and typing and a bit of the internet. It's a great device, but for when I need to organise files and reset SD cards, I still need to rely on a computer.

This is quite impressive. I can't really tell if this is the 12.9" or the 11" but if it is the former, it's impressive. I wasn't expecting this but watching how it's used on the lap while sitting on a couch has nearly sold me to it. I expect it is the12.9" as I don't think anyone would be able to stabilize the 11" on their lap so well. Still impressed.

I just learned not too long ago, if you guys put a number into the FaceTime call within the FaceTime app it just forces a call if that’s they can’t go through FaceTime, and I believe it also give the option either way. If not just got through contacts honestly.
