Here in Texas I recently picked up a bottle a few months back for $86. Not a bad price Macallan these days. It is quite good.

Scottish friend steered me at Macallan back in 1985. The 12’s & 18’s from ‘85-‘92 are a whole other level. Today’s Macallan is painful for me because it’s still good enough to remind me of how it used to taste. Can’t sip a dram today without thinking about how it used to taste.

just got gifted a bottle fully sealed in the box of the discontinued 10 year sherry oak too scared to open it as i’ve done some googling and found it’s worth about £400 😂 but think i’ll keep it as a special occasions drink

What do I think? Friend, I drink Scotch. And I love Macallan. Zero complaints, other than value. I can't even try to defend them anymore, it's gotten so bad. So, I say if you're a fan, drink, away, and enjoy. No judgement. If, however, you're looking for comparable, or even better drams, let me suggest : Arbelour 12 $50 Glenfiddich 14 Bourbon Barrel $50 Lagavulin 11 Offerman edition Caribbean $90 Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask $80 Highland Park 12 $60 Give them a try. I think you'll be shocked.

I was a Mac12 devotee for years. BUT the Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak offering is a much better version of this style Scotch and $30 cheaper!

@CasksnQue they have both, and the sherry is cheaper. Double caske is 68.99, and Sherry is 57.89

The past 2 to 3 years I have found this scotch to be anywhere between 85 and a $100. There is absolutely no way this is worth that price which is a shame because it was my first whiskey love 30 years ago. I happened to come across to bottles on clearance at target for half off. I purchase them for $45 a bottle. That was a steal and at that price it is absolutely worth it. But I just got lucky because that is not the regular price and sadly I will never pay the regular price ever again.

Thanks for sharing! I agree with you. Now it’s hard to even find. A few store owners in my market claim it to be an allocated bottle now

@jeetpancholi3587 absolutely! I love Glendronach 12! Also Glenfarclas 12 is tough to beat. Both of those are less than Macallan 12.
