Inspite of being from a reputable background and being herself a maestro in filmmaking, she’s so much grounded. This also shows up in her work. Amazing person.

She gave us two love letters to two cities , Bombay(even though Chawl scenes were shot in Pune) and Delhi with her 2 films. Katha and Chasme Baddoor are like archives of those times in these 2 cities.

I think she should be given Dada Saheb Phalke Award for her outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema especially the classic Trilogy of Sparsh CB and Katha...A path breaking icon who has been unfairly ignored but for her brilliant films she certainly deserves the highest honour

Absolutely enjoyed this podcast.. thanks to the people behind it.....Sai Paranjpye's movies and works with DD were very much part of my childhood and adolescence.....she is part of that wonderful parallel movie scene we had, which gave us so many memorable movies. Now something on a lighter mode, Sai Paranjpye's daughter.... Winnie, with her lovely eyes, who was very much part of her many works was one of my first crushes 😊

Thanks Anurag. She is a legend. One just can’t imagine how this amazing, simple and soft spoken lady transforms into a legendary movie director when she wears a Director’s Hat … Such Wonderful stories like Sparsh,Katha n Chasme Baddoor and more with amazing stories & also comic lines (especially in Chashme Baddoor) which stand apart even today inspite of so much chaos of stand-up.This is one of the best interviews and thanks for that.

Thank you for doing this interview, it was so nice to listen to her talk. Ironically, her Chashme Baddur feels way ahead of it's remake. Obviously mainstream cinema wasn't for her otherwise we would have gotten many more timeless classics.

A pleasure to see and hear the great Sai Paranjpye!!! The interviewer, Anurag, should curtail his unnecessary laughter while asking questions. The mindless laughter takes from the efficacy of the questions put to the interviewee. Hope to see some improvements there in future.

20:19 Sai mam and Dharmendra ji, could had been a very rare and interesting combination, if that filmed had been complete.... Just like Shyam Benegal and Parveen Babi...'रंगबीरंगी' 21:51 .... But for us Chashmebaddoor is simply unforgettable movie... No matter it didn't get awards.. But it is in our minds I think, film critics and public, must now create a special new category of 'a movie, that didn't receive any award but lasted in publics mind'.... 26:05 even I got very much impressed by the way sai mam filmed the locations of delhi city, .....the movie, can make anybody to fall in love of delhi... In her autobiography she has mentioned that she herself fell in love with Delhi city. 26:53 when I went to delhi in 2019 , I purposely, went by the Talkatora locality, just to have a glimpse of that restaurant,.... But to my disappointment, the area looked like a Khandahar.

This is exactly the same time when angry young man was being celebrated. If you see the men in “Chasme-Baddoor”, they had the same issues of unemployment, shortage of funds, staying in sharing while trying to stay on each others expense, failing in love but, they were still happy and don’t see becoming angry young men. I love this aspect of filmmaking that presents the audience with different perspective through interesting storytelling.
