This is one of the best DLG videos out there. You do a wonderful job explaining what is happening and the glider is low enough for viewers to follow and understand. I've referenced this video a number of times to friends and colleagues to try and help them understand this amazing niche of RC flying. Great work!

Absolutely stunning. You are the reason to pick up rc gliding again, baught an NRJ this week - can‘t wait to launch it for the first time! What transmitter and telemetry system do you use? Best, Mat

What does it mean to you when you say it's better to stay "forward" of the thermal when the centering is not good? Forward meaning down wind/ up wind or having the highest lift in a 360 degree turn after the model from your perspective?
@CirrusRC2 жыл бұрын
forward being closer to me and not out the back of it (further away). Either way - sink is bad :)

Great video. Can you please direct me to a site where I can get a First, Durable, D.L.G. Also a suggestion on that First, Durable, D.L.G. Been flying for years now, but I'm sure this D.L.G. stuff is a completely different ballgame. THANKS.
@CirrusRC Жыл бұрын
Where are you based?
@gisall8205 Жыл бұрын
In HELL. I mean Las Vegas Nevada. U.S.A. Introduced to RC airplanes many many years ago through pure slope soaring in San Diego California. Now I fly 3D, Bush Planes and general Aviation RC airplanes. Really want to get back to the Gliders though. Everything in Las Vegas Nevada is regulated, so there's no soft grassy fields to land in. Can you suggest a Durable first time DLG to learn on. If possible. Even an inexpensive F5K Electric Glider. Something that can land on pavement. Hope I'm not asking for the impossible. THANKS. @@CirrusRC
@CirrusRC Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't advise landing any DLG on the pavement. They are made from carbon fibre and you will damage them - the fin also hangs below the fuselage so will scrape on the ground. If you can catch every time then that's not a problem. If you want something cheap and durable to start with then something like the Longshot 4 might be worth a look.

Hi. RTF all up weight on that DLG is 235grams. I have a lighter one but think the heavier fly's better in majority of conditions.

great videos I'm wanting to get my first DLG can you make a recommendation for a good "cheaper" starter DLG? also any help in setup and you talk about cruise mode etc. what are the modes on your radio for DLG? I'm in Florida so should have good thermal most of the year. Thanks!
@CirrusRC3 жыл бұрын
I recommend picking up a second hand model. Try to find local flyers or better still a local club where you can get advise. My first DLG was a 2nd hand Fireworks 4.2. Lots of information on DLG set up on the internet - too much to write here. We fly different wing camber in each mode. Speed no camber, cruise a little camber, thermal more camber. Can also have extra camber on a slider. Snapflap too and you also need launch modes. Good luck.

perfect again... How to you make turns without losing any height ? ( I don't mean while thermalling) I use rudder and ailrond in same direction, and then keep the rudder and add counter aileron... but ervery time I loose a lot of height...
@CirrusRC4 жыл бұрын
hi - thanks. Differential helps + correct CG and also using the elevator in the turns to keep the nose up. Lots of rudder will cause yaw and dropping of the nose.
@yannickver4 жыл бұрын
@@CirrusRC do you use inversed differential ? (more down than up ?) I thought is was best to use as much rudder as possible and as less ailerons as possible.
@CirrusRC4 жыл бұрын
@@yannickver yes I do. All gliders fly differently. Always best to experiment with lots of different settings until you find sweet spot. Most of time you want small movements as smooth flying means less height loss.

@@derekbell5333 The Elf is a lovely model, but rudder elevator only and smaller span. Fly's best in very light winds and is less durable compared to say a Longshot 4.
