This works perfect in Finance world - Escpecially with Perfomance reivew meetings .. Only downside we encountered back in the day is the slicer settings .. We had to change it manually every month and couldnt be handled centrally either from the report or in Power Point .. havent tried it recently so excuse if this is already addresed.

A feature to lock the view to a specific snapshot will be helpful. Otherwise dynamic data sometime goes out of sync with the static contents in the presentation

100% 👏 This is what I called out, when this (useless) feature was first launched. The minute that report gets refreshed, any static text in a slide is redundant. Absolutely pointless.

In your Power BI online report viex, you can share the report as an image in Power Point rather than the live report. So you can have your specific snapshot. I personnaly don't think this is pointless, it's just a bonus for those who want to add data to Power Point without managing screenshots.

The thing is though, those aren’t “insights”. They’re just data points. The real insight comes from a contextual narrative which EXPLAINS data. You can’t AI that.

real insights without data evidence are opinions... sometimes data alone are pretty much self explanatory, sometimes are not... and real insights are real as much as the data render them possible....

@@DB-in2mrThe point is this: the modern trend is to describe a data point moving up or down as an “insight”. This IS utter rubbish. The true insight comes from the context explaining the movement: an acquisition, investment capital, restructuring etc. If anyone came into my boardroom with just data points, I’d sack them.

@@imconfused1237 I am not sure if you are working in complex prodiction with numbers. But in aviation, my field, we do a lot of sensitivty analyses (perturbing feature variance...your ups and downs across multiple features). we do this to get INSIGHTS that determine risk patterns for your flight while landing ...(to avoid hard landings forn instance). Your example on single vatriables is appropriate as you describe it....but patterns of ups and downs cannot be simply interpreted easily by single contexts...or simply there iis not even a context to help you out.....and thus we end up embedding features that "act as contextual factors...as moderatior or mediator variables (i.e., your acquisition, investment capital, restructuring etc...) ...so then avaition managers can reason on getting some insights and wondering why certiain ups and dows happen to be....so the very basic fact od an insight coming from the context explaining the "movements" are not always external to some other piece of data, what you call context is another type of mediator or moderator feature....a number itself.... : )

The report inserted is behaving like a Power BI Embedded feature so yes, it's supposed to be interactive

Excellent video! We're trying to utilize this, but... If I create this on the desktop, then it's blocked in ppt-online. I see that you have the "standard" Power BI add-in, but we also have the "admin-managed" add-in. I have tried both. If I use the Power BI add-in online in ppt, then it works fine. If I use the desktop then it will deny me using it on the online PPT. This is driving me nuts. Any ideas?

Thanks for this video! Curious as to what setting you enabled through powerBI desktop to have the charts auto resize when you change the size of the table in powerpoint. My charts stay the same size so when I make the size of the linked chart in power point, it cuts off the sizes of the tables rather than making the table smaller. Thanks!

Any way to have the Power BI data update automatically. For example when running a slide show with an embedded Power BI report if the data change Power BI only shows that data from the time it was embedded.

Q: I have a ppt presentation with 100+ charts in 50+ slides. A slide can have 5-6 charts max. I get data from power bi service into excel via OLAP and then use thinkcell linked charts in ppt with the excel data ranges as data backend toed to these think cell charts on ppt. All of them can be refreshed in one go. If i directly use the power bi into ppt approach, first, will it be a performance hit on pot while opening because of 100+ power bi containers? Second, is there a feature to refresh all charts in one go?

Q: I'm going through the microsoft accreditations for the power platform, currently i have pl-300 and am working towards pl-500, is there any dummy organisational databases I can connect to make apps, automations, dashboards from? I have a business account on personal laptop that I use for licensing etc but i dont have data to practice with. in a perfect world there would be a dummy sql database to practice with. Thank you!

We're having a lot of issues getting this to work. Admin account work just fine, non-admin accounts do not. I've tried setting different permissions on the app, on the underlying dataset (we use shared datasets separate from the reports), but cannot get it to run without error.

Q: one problem with the embedded is the save as image feature. It doesn't stick when the file is closed and opened. Do you know how to keep it from reverting from a static image to a live report?

If I want a chart to appear in a slide, do you know what I do? I screen clip it. Takes about 5 seconds. Keep it simple.

Q: I have used this new tool to develop a PowerPoint with a lot of visuals from different reports, but I am having a problem. The card visual (old and new), tables and matrixes do not interact the same way as graphs. They do not adjust their letter size when their dimensions are altered. Can you help me solve this problem? You can't with the interactivity unless you report is hosted on a public space (so without authorizations). You can share you report as an image but you won't have the interactions.
