All rights to the film belong to Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc.
Some may think that the song is a bit obsolete, but I think it's great and also hilarious. It actually fits in with Ruber's personality.

Have to say Ruber is one of the most intimating villains out there. His first feat to demonstrate his threat level is he was nearly able to murder Arthur right at the round table that was filled with knights at his side. He was so insanely strong that he bulldozed right through the knights and was only stopped by Excalibur. And just about everything after he does is nothing but impressive, stopping a spiked mace with his bare hands, showing that the griffon is his bitch, and even later on killed a dragon, again, with his bare hands. I even assumed that it was he who lifted the giant off of them once he got into a better position. Ruber was kinda insane.

Im toying with the idea of creating a Dread Domain from Van Richten's Guide where Ruber is a Dreadlord trapped in a world where he "won." The world goes back to the war and violence he wants, and Camelot is both his fortress and prison with an inverted Round Table, where Ruber has Knights that represent evil ideals (greed, power, etc). I imagine the stuff that "killed" him in the movie actually takes him to this Domain instead.

Here’s some info: When I watched the movie, I can actually see why Arthur would have Ruber involved in the round table even though Ruber was clearly messed in the head. Throughout the film, Ruber doesn’t just have his men sent after the group but is personally involved throughout the chase. Within that chase, every problem that the main characters face, they ultimately leave behind for Ruber and his group to deal with in the aftermath… and Ruber CONTINUES to succeed and chase after them. There’s a scene where the group is chased by the dragons and get cornered by Ruber too, but they escape and leave Ruber with the dragons to fight. It transitions with Ruber dropping his sword, getting in a corner, and then punching a dragon in the face. Next scene with Ruber later, and they’re cooking dragon meat on a skillet… Needless to say, Ruber was, no joke, a genuine warrior. Whatever monsters the main group escaped from, Ruber either killed or escaped from as well. There wasn’t a point where Ruber was shocked either. He always seemed to know what he was dealing with even if it was way out of his league to fight, so there are signs of experience and shows why he’s the leader.

I have a theory on how Ruber was able to become a knight at the Round table, my theory is that Ruber was a very powerful warlord or the son of one, hence his desire for power, and had a lot of enemies. When Arthur came along, he saw that he and Ruber shared many commen enemies and saw Ruber as "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". He asked Ruber for his full support and in return, a place at the Round Table and a possible guarantee of large amount of land, there is one line that Ruber says at the start of the film "I wouldn't have supported you all these years if I thought you were running a charity.". This line also indicates that all the land he had as a warlord was handed over to the Arthur's kingdom and when he tried to get it back, SIr Lionel said that the King had decided. And Ruber's ego couldn't take that so, he fought back. Lost everything and for the next ten years, the only thing that kept him going was his desire for power and revenge against Arthur. Hence why when we see him ten years later, he is more unhinged and driven to near madness.

I always imaged Ruber as the knight Arthur had to do his dirty work he couldn't ask the others to do. When a kingdom is divided not everyone is gonna come together immediately when someone becomes king. There's always gonna be those who will be against it and I can see Arthur sending Ruber to deal with those people promising land in return and that's when the movie starts and Arthur just casually acts like Ruber is going crazy and Ruber is just fed up with Arthur's bullshit
@vetarlittorf1807
@vetarlittorf1807 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think that's the case. It's implied in the beginning that each member of the round table got their own land to govern in Arthur's name and Ruber simply wanted more than what he was given.
@nightbreed2244
@nightbreed2244 11 ай бұрын
Thats actually a good idea: Arthur didnt wanted himself or the other knights involved in dirty work so instead he ordered Rubber to deal with those people (warlords, nobles, witches) who were a threat to him and his quest to become king. And after all the bloody work is done Arthur has no intention to give Rubber his promised land. Of course Rubber would be still a megalomaniac mass murdering warrior but Arthur would be still just as guilty as him because he gave Rubber these orders in the first place.

I've always been of a mind that this song, while it could be improved, that improvement would be to make it sound even more hectic and insane then it already is. Get real Elliot Goldenthal with that orchestration! The actual song itself is perfectly suited to the character of Ruber--frantic, all over the place, rhyming in odd ways, industrial, and aggressively malevolent compared to most villain songs of the 90s. Also, if I may vent, screw COPPA and KZbin's negligence that made that legislation a necessity, for making discussion on children's media like this impossible, thanks to their gutting the comment sections.

Criticisms aside, I love the transformation scene itself as a whole. It's kinda eerie that we don't know the full effects or the "price to pay" that the potion entails. Ruber probably didn't care what happened to his lackies, he probably just saw what the potion could offer him. He's too insane to care about consequences of using the Black Arts. Plus, him using the well (At least, I assume it's a well) as a makeshift way to get his men into their new bodies quickly was a nice way to improvise. Additionally, I don't consider his men as "Robots". I kinda view them as a metallic variant of Trolls, or orcs or whatever they are, instead of flesh and blood. And finally, I love how they incorporated their weapons as LITERAL extensions of their bodies. From Flails, to crossbows, they fully came prepared. The plan didn't need to be subtle, but Ruber was a villain in the sense that the good guys had to ouwit him.
