Your tool is too big, use a smaller even a large screwdriver you won't break so many.

I knew you would crack the Gem. Why don’t you have a large flathead Screwdriver? You may like to work with it as it does not crack your gems And only chisel the Host rock to break/plate first then pick up the Gems pick it loose with your hands. Your Chisel is too broad.
