Thanks for the thoughts. The more I play this game the more I love it. We have yet to encounter a runaway leader problem. There are points in the game where one person seems to be ahead of others, but by the end of the game everyone seems to be close, at least in our 5 plays.

For that little you will get at least your test plays worth if nothing else.

Just had a first play of this at 2 players. Enjoyed it very much. The AP inducing nature of the game was pretty apparent, luckily my friend and I are both rather instinctive players, but I which of my game groups I’d better not take this game to :) We didn’t have a runaway leader problem though. After the first round there was a 3 point difference (I was behind), which had grown to 15 points after round two, yet I finished the game only 1 point behind (129 - 130). I almost caught up with my tile placements with 4 full rectangles in my camp versus 0 rectangles in my opponent’s camp. Yes, you could argue that the point difference hadn’t changed a lot, because without the camp bonus, I would have been 17 points behind, but it was a choice of mine to focus on placement early in round 2 that influenced which posters I took because of the shape of the tiles they would need. It was a strategic choice that so very nearly paid off. Now 1 play is a poor sample size, I must admit, so I can’t disagree with you yet :), but will keep this issue in the back of my mind when playing this again. I will take this as a challenge to pull off a comeback victory.

Enjoyed my first solo play but annoyed at the lack of sensible theme. Which is unusual for me. Further plays with other players made me really disappointed ultimately. Santa Maria is much more enjoyable.

I agree though the dryness of that is hurting me wanting to get it off the shelf, it nearly got culled.

Yep. Nailed it my feelings exactly. Was fun not itching to play again. The run away leader is def a big issue. So makes the game very gimmicky after people start figuring this out. I feel Santa Maria is a better game.
