The funniest bit of contrast in the show is between Gertrude "sometimes you have sacrifice your assistants and do terrible things to them to achieve your goals" Robinson and Jonathan "I'm going to operate on my sleeping coworker to get a bullet out of her leg despite the fact that she could very well kill me if she wakes up" Sims. The man may not be the best with people but he'd walk through hell and back to make sure his assistants are ok

Gertrude got Michael to trust her to an unhealthy extent, then fed him to an evil door god, and he felt so betrayed that when the evil door god assimilated him, that lingering feeling of betrayal resulted in him becoming the evil door god.

It's a difficult situation. Can't take Melanie to a normal doctor because if they could the bullet would be out by now. Can't ask for permission because she doesn't really trust anyone, least of all Jon. Can't leave it alone or she'll become a hopped up murder junkie sooner or later.

I see the same people, the person posting transcripts, the first time listener who posts 'spoilers?' then their notes from the episode, the person who used to post cryptic one-word spoilers, and in earlier episodes the repeat listeners who say 'there's a reason ;)))' or 'you'll see ;))))'. I just love it all so much, it's like we're all listening together around a campfire. I normally never comment, but I do on every episode now because it's just so nice! i appreciate the ever so slight detail of cutting her pant leg it seems so normal, so rational, so pointlessly unnecessary to even mention but somewhere inside me is warmed by jonys foresight at specifying the only creepy thing about this impromptu surgery is the fact it has to happen because of a ghost gunshot

I dunno why, but the Slaughter is somehow the Entity I can handle the easiest. As supernaturally bloodthirsty as people get... it's still a thing that seems... reasonable. Like it wouldn't require an Avatar or a Leitner to push humanity to the depths of brutal, violent madness. Cynical, to be sure, but such is how I see us, especially with how I'm commenting this within a week of the revelation of what Russian troops did in Bucha...

You would think that it wouldn't t really need humans when weasels and dogs exist. I think cats fall into the hunt, but dogs and weasels go bonkers and slaughter regularly enough.

Wow, nevermind all that then. Honestly, I've been getting gradually more and more upset over how everybody's been treating Jon, and found myself unsure of wether I actually wanted to continue listening. I am so happy I got to this point and even more happy this is one of the few things I haven't spoiled for myself. This is an incredible reveal. Thinking about it now, I realize how weird and seemingly out of place the whole bullet detail was, but hindsight is 20/20, and it flew completely under every single one of my radars. Wow. I am not apologizing for my hateful posts, not at all. In the very least, because they were incredibly funny to blurt out. But I am so happy this weird and sudden character development got a proper explanation, and really eager to see Melanie once again in the ranks of characters I don't want to strangle on sight.

yknow, I keep seeing people talking about the hunt being the main focus of this season but it seems like it will mostly be the more violent "patrons". ex, the end, the slaughter, and the hunt. the web too, but that's not one of the inherently violent ones, I guess

@torcaace

@@clayxros576 the end isn't even aggressive. I'd say it's one of the more passive entities. It just makes its presence known and stands there. Menacingly. Until the time to die comes. Then it acts. The exception to this is the people who kill others to repay their debts to the end in souls, like the guy who got diy lobotomized by Dekker a few episodes back

I just realized something; I went back to double check and excluding the time he was away from the Institute, Jon always referred to himself when reading statements as "Jonathan Sims, head archivist of the Magnus Institute". Last time he did so was MAG117, the last statement he read before they went to blow up the house of wax. Since he's woken up from the coma, he just refers to himself as "Jonathan Sims, The Archivist."
