The redline was at 5,500 rpm on the 3.8 but reduced to 5,000 rpm on the 4.2. The 3.8 always revved more freely.

I want aware of the redline difference - really interesting. Yes it def revs much more freely - & higher. Thanks for watching! Please subscribe!

Flat floor on 3.8 is an issue for taller drivers. I like your observation as sitting looking downwards on the 4.2, which can be partially addressed by thinning the 4.2 seat padding.

True that’s one way of sorting the seat height issue. I forgot to mention the flat floor/ outside bonnet lock cars, but the video was really for beginners. Thanks for your comments.

Good evening . Well, l'm a stickler for original, so the Moss would have to stay ! Here's a tickler .....My bro' was allowed to take father's '61 3.4 MOD for a drive in 1965 . I was 12 , he was17 . So we drove 5 miles to the Penn lnn roundabout at Newton Abbot . We pulled up next to a Morris 1100 with an elderly couple . Bro' gunned the engine, waiting for the light's to change ,,,,off we charge ! Yes ! We're ahead ! .......but by the time we get into 2nd the 1100 had disappeared info the distance !

I like your story! Imagine a 17 year old in a Mk2!

The 4.2 seems a more usable car, but I don't think you could complain between a 3.8 or 4.2.

I agree. Both great!

On the 3.8 Boot all it says is 'Jaguar' but on the 4.2 it says 'E Type Jaguar 4.2

The 3.8 seats definitely look racier and more stylish to me! Interesting to know that after all that work on the engine it had slower acceleration and a lower top speed…

I think individual cars could be faster or slower, but the 3.8 definitely revs better - but is also more prone to head gasket issues as the cylinders are closer together.
